Furthermore, the developers have only been active in their own forum at obsidian.net.
Your problems sound odd and sound much like you need to practice placement of the destination circles (with LMB and RMB) some more. It isn't rocket science and works fine here.
And, of course, whether character AI behavior and/or party AI behavior are ON or OFF may have an impact, too. With AI ON and characters set to aggressive behavior, they would move on their own instead of waiting for player to give commands. Some players want to control their characters themselves, but don't turn off AI.
It's actually very smart and intuitive to do it this way. A game like dragon age sucks with clicking because a character may be inside of another character (like during an animation) and it will be incredibly difficult to click on the character you want.
