umm... specify pls?
where is this cave? what is the name of the enemy?
You mean Concelhaut? He's a bit more than a skeleton in a cave...

Oh i mean the first part of the white march dlc where you have the quest the Siege of Cragholdt and there's a cave on the bottom of the cliff if you go into it there's like 10 skeleton mages that litterally blast your entire party away

Yop, it's high level area.

Yea its fairly high level.. Another time simply check your attack rolls vs. their defences and the other way around.. Should give you a decent idea about if your in the wrong area..

Yeah I had to divide & cut there group into like 2-3's in order to kill the lich finally I think next playthrough on another character ill remember to level up to atleast 12+ before doing this area ha

I'm on Hard / Expert mode and took me literally almost 20 minutes to kill the lich solo at level 9

Its a least a lvl 13 area. Just beat it on Hard with a lvl 13 party. And that cave is not the hard part.

if this is a high level area why is it literally the first area of the dlc? I'm at max level for the base game and this cave deletes my entire party instantly. where's the onramp to this DLC?

Stalwart is the very first area in The White March.

On the contrary, the introduction of Crägholdt is accompanied with warnings about Concelhaut being involved somehow, and Aloth emphasizes on that.

Level cap of base game is 12. Level cap with both expansions installed is 16. Depending in what your party can do, you may need to return later.

The Crägholdt mage cave is indeed tough, but it has two entrances:

1. southeast cave mouth, leads outside to Crägholdt Bluffs southeast, lower tier
2. west tunnel, leads inside to a hallway door in Crägholdt

You don't have to attack it from #1.
That's probably suicidal, because it's designed to be a high-level trap.
You have no space, no room to run, nowhere to hide.
You're badly outnumbered.
Steelspine Magus and Void Seer have very nasty L4-L5 Wizard spells.

Instead, wait and attack it from #2.
First finish all of Crägholdt Bluffs (outside). That means kill all of the Torn Bannermen,
walk up to the top of the layer cake, and kill all of the Ancient Death Guards.
Enter Crägholdt, meet Concelhaut's apprentices, and explore the hallways.

Then you can dismantle the cave from the inside, using the usual lure-and-split tactics.
You'll outnumber them, with room to run and maneuver.
It might take you 3-5 separate fights, but patiently lure them out, and they lose their edge.

The cave isn't even the 2nd hardest fight within Crägholdt:

#3 = the cave
#2 = Uariki's Lab? (if you fight her + 10 Animated weapons)
#1 = Concelhaut's study

So you're expected to do more than the cave.
Ultimately, it's just a warm-up exercise, before you tackle the boss fight.
