Can't Switch Resolution Message at Launch
I was plaing the game just fine when I got it, but after an update, it won't launch at all, and I get a message saying it can't switch screen resolutions.

I have looked into this, and a lot of people had this issue. EVerybody says the solutions are to reinstall your drivers, and change the settings to disable full screen optimization in your game settings.

Neither of these worked for me.

The other solution i saw was to go to Nvidea COntrol Panel and change the setting for some things, but I can't seem to get that to work either. Am I just out of luck?

The game has not been updated for several months. When did it work for the last time?

Maybe try the suggestion in the middle of this topic?

What resolution does the game choose currently?
What is your hardware?

What Google searches do you use to find older topics?

The game doesn't choose a resolution at all, that is the problem. it tries to and fails.

I have Windows 10, Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU@2.5GHZ

I googled "Pillars of Eternity cannot switch resolution" and found a bunch of people with my exact problem/error message.

I haven't played in probably a year. I had this problem, couldn't fix it, and got discouraged. I recently wanted to try again, but can not find a solution.
Maybe try resetting the game's registry entries related to screen resolution and fullscreen:

I'm not aware of "a lot of people" having this issue. That's why I've asked. I also pointed Google at the official forum and did not get more than 1-2 topics. Obsidian would have done something about it in their tech support workarounds topics, at least.
