Explain the gods to me?
I played this long ago and i think i got half way through or something.

Cant be bothered to start again so i watched a recap on youtube for this game for POE2

But i dont quite understand, do gods not actually exist in this world? Some things created by man? Are they actually gods then or not? How powerful are they?

The gods very much are real in the sense that they exist and have their actual god powers. They were, however created by the ancient engwithians, which is the whole deal of the gods not being real (because a lot of humans wouldn't follow the gods if they knew they were created, despite their existance and powers). How far said powers go exactly I don't know, but all the powers you encounter throughout the game seem pretty significant to me.

well what are they exactly? Some giant souls? Some huge monsters? Constructs?
They exist only in The Beyond as the massive collection of souls they have been created as. They don't walk on Eora themselve - what happens in PoE 2 is unique. Their manifestations in images, stories, myths and statues - sometimes even multiple ones for the same god depending on the cultural background of the followers - are due to giving all humans something to choose from and to believe in.

Wouldn't that make each of the gods like a giant council of people and minds with 1 voice then?
More of a collective of souls as to lend raw power to the governing super-soul, which in turn is subject to its rules and conscience since creation.

As what they can do and can't beyond what is being told in the games and DLCs is still rather vague. On one hand, Ondra crashing a moon onto Eora. On the other hand, the Godhammer Bomb could kill St. Waidwen, who was believed to be a living incarnation of Eothas, and if so, it was probably a huge mistake to try that and become much more fragile compared with existing within The Beyond.

Finish the game and they explain it.

Basically the gods are entities created by man, but they are real entities with real power. Think of them as like Skynet style ai from terminator, but all with different personalities and powers.

Depends on which mythology you subscribe to.

I'd link you to my wife's Facebook but hellfire would rain down.

Truth and belief are two entirely separate concepts. This isn't a discussion about your real world fantasies, it's about the lore of Pillars of Eternity.

Nope, no amount of fantasy can rile me up. The whole JC comment was just out of place in this discussion. Believe what you want. Santa Claus is cooler than Jesus if you ask me, though!

Oh yeah, Santa Clause is definitely cooler than Jeezus. And he's real.
