Wizard talk- Mastered spells.
I am curious what spells you picked for your mastered slots ( per encounter spells) In pillars of eternity and what were your reasonings for it ?

My set is as follows :

Level 1 : Slicken - Causes prone the stat effect that even tentacles can't seem to be able to resist, exeptionally good opener for any fight as it's also very fast to cast.

Level 2 : Mirrored Image - Some fast basic defence options, fast panic deflection is always good choise. I were thinking about getting Binding web since I am control wizard, but I decided to go with variety instead of pure one type spells.

Level 3 : Ardous delay of motion - Another debuff spell that hits everything, it's not much but move and attack speed debuff help kiting if need be. I was thinking about taking Llengraths displaced image or expose vulnerabilities for this slot, but I didn't have Llengraths when I got the masteries and respecing as wizard is pain in the butt :D ( would have taken lv 2 web and lv 3 Displaced image that way).

Level 4 : Maura's writhring tentacles - Hands down my second favorite spell ( after slicken :D), exellent path blocker, makes enemies engaged, extra damage, good thing to tuck at enemy casters if you are mobile ( +3 speed boots). Dimension sift and Pull of Eora were also on my choise list for bit of mobility and more control, but I prefer using Eora from spell slots instead ( it's insane enemy annoyer and helps you stack up opponents for control spells such as Gaze of the Adragan:D).

What were your choise picks and why ? =)

For non-specialized wizards:

1 - Eldritch Aim : simply because I like quick access to +15 spell Accuracy when it matters

2 - Curse of Blackened Sight : the status effects of Blinded affliction are devastating and very helpful in many encounters

3 - Deleterious Alacrity of Motion : basically the first spell during combat

4 - Minoletta's Concussive Missiles : it targets Deflection, and in Foe AoE it targets Reflex

i used

1) chill fog. Aoe pulse spells are the best imo. I just buff my wizzard and spam Aoe pulse spells then stand there with everyone and watch the enemies all die. This was my second spell used in every encounter after pull of eora

2) curse of blackened sight. This tier was my least used tier all game and i just picked this one because blind is the best debuff in the game imo. corrosive siphon would be nice too but the range on corrosive siphon is so short i chose the blind instead

3) Kalakoths minor blights. This skill is crazy damage. After i use all my aoe pulse spells i would buff my wizzard with this and a lot of damage increasing buffs, and alacrity of motion (didnt pick alacrity of motion because its a potion), then his auto attack would do crazy damage

4) pull of eora. Best spell in the game. makes every fight so easy the game gets boring once you recieve this spell

Oh yeah, Harmless form is handy, shame you can't master it yet, perhaps in Deathfire =)

Kalagoth's blights are good yeah, hmm, interesting pick for mastery spell, I used to use it a lot till I got lv 8 spell Caedebald's black bow, then I stopped using it. Now if I need long term damage I just do : black bow ( lv 8) + Deleterious Alacity of motion ( lv3) + citral's martial power ( lv 6), If you do Cifral's last you can use black bow even with spells disabled =)

I used blights over bow because blights would have the splash damage. I was all about AoE on wizzard. Idk if the bow didnt have splash but i assumed not. I used the same 2 spells for increasing damage but i used the motion spell as a potion for the second half of the game or so

True, bow did not have splash just pretty darn high single hit, I recon that would indeed make blight handy mastery spell for stanrad fights indeed.
