Yet another "Is DLC worth it?" thread
Can someone inform me how is the writing in the DLC? For me the writing and storytelling are more important than gameplay aspects.

Thanks in advance.

The writing and story are of similar quality as the base game imho and the DLCs don't feel tacked on or anything. Everything else is improved: unique and interesting loot, more tactical encounters, stuff like that.

Might i ask how would you rate from 1 to 10 compared to the base game?

Yeah, everything in the DLCs is similar but better. It feels like the devs learned while making the base game and built the DLC with a bunch of nice ideas that fit well with the original game.

Narrative of the two DLCs is more focused than the main game. Well written overall. A bit expensive, maybe, at full price. But totally worth it in my opinion.

I love Pillars of Eternity but I have to say I liked most the story of the DLC White March than the main quest of the game xD

The writing is great, but the pacing from the main game doesn't make much sense (oh no a bunch of bad things are happening, excuse me while I take a trip to nowhere and gallavant on an unrelated side mission).

And while the writing is great, the dlc are mostly combat and more combat for the sake of combat. I'd say the main game being about 60/40 comvst/story and dialogue, the dlc is more like 80/20 combat /story and dialogue.

I personally found combat in the game to be mostly a chore and not the funnest aspect of the game, so the dlc to me I'd rate like 4/10 for my personal preferences. However based solely on amount of content and how well it is made, I'd rate dlc like 8/10.

After multiple playthroughs the DLC really drags the pacing of the game in my opinion. It is fun but I think it adds a lot of bells and whistles and really alters the base game in terms of skills. I wish they would have implemented the skills in the DLC in the first vision of POE.

I recommend playing the base game and you will have more than enough fun. The DLCS are very combat heavy, and more of the same. I always found my self just wanting to go and kill Thoas by the time I am halfway through the DLCs. That's my advice.

I didn't like that in one part of the DLC (trying not to spoil here), you run into mercenaries where even just two of them can crush your whole lvl 10(ish) party.

I know they're supposed to a well known group but with that kind of power they could have taken over the whole area if they wanted to, kind shattered my illusion of becoming a badass group.

Overall it's good DLC though, I like snowy areas.

How long on average does it take to complete white march part 1 & 2 ?

I completed the base game 2 times in 88 hours and on second run i did all available quests.. i guess i want to see everything there is to see and not rush through the content

In my opinion the DLC is better than the main game. The writing (story + companions) is better. I really like some of the new companions. The gameplay is also improved. There is much more interesting loot in the DLC and the combat encounters are a good deal harder as well.

Somewhere between 20 and 40 hours dependent on your playstyle.
