See you.
This is other option, OP. But you can take advantage of players that experience both games and question properly here about both titles of Obsidian. If you want a crazy thread, controversy, etc, then go to those topics with same beginning like this your.
If you want make the things good, replan your question. Your decision.
See you.
"Pillars is better." 1st message.
"Tyranny is not good." 2nd message.
OP, who is better filmaker, Stanley Kubrick or Bergman?
What is most beautiful? Western cathedrals like León Cathedral or eastern cathedrals like orthodox of Ukraine?
It is best beer or wine?
Holy shi t, those questions are absurd like ask what game is better, and more absurd is reply "A is better than Z" with the conviction of "All hearts will stop in some moment."
All depend of tastes, OP. That is the key. You can read analysis of both games and then take your own decision. But this type of threads, joder...
Impossible, the good music is in my house...
No, seriously, the millions threads like this is what bother me, is a bit absurd expect a official reply, no? At least I think is common sense not question this things.
See you, McClou!
Hhahahaah! xDD
Nah, that gem lost shine for a long time. It is good remember pioneers, but life continue, mate.
OP, Baldur´s Gate is to museums. Don´t play it that filth. People remember like first date with girlfriend, my friend, , but time not forgive! Girlfriend now is ...other person. With other aspect and attitudes...
...
..
It is easy. Try harder, try dialogue at least. Speak shi t of other games is sooo easy to anyone. Cause not require think nor accept other ideas. That is the easy way, hehe. Pffff.
And, of course, the question has come up multiple times before:

Welcome to humanity?
You got a good point but you're just going to have to accept that people think they're right. It's a core mechanic of the human psyche. If you didn't and always questioned everything and never thought you were right about anything then you probably wouldn't get far in life.
Think I read an article about a study on it. It was pretty clear that thinking you're right about stuff was a necessary component of our evolution. If all hunters assumed they couldn't kill their prey we wouldn't have survived. They needed the confidence in their abilities and thoughts to succeed...
So we must think we are right about our opinions, because that's all you have. Facts are just opinions that most people generally believe to be true.
And this will always create conflict and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Discord at one level creates harmony on another.
-better story and setting. just research both and see what one you like better. they are both fantasy but pillars has a lot more lore. The world is a lot bigger, and every map you enter is a lot larger as well. with Tyranny you are pretty much stuck in a region conquesting at the end of a war. With pillars your going on a large scale adventure in a completely original world.
-much longer, about 3 times as long as tyranny. maybe 4 or 5 times as long as tyranny if you consider all expansion content for both games
-character classes. in tyranny there is only one class for your main character, but that one class has 6 different skill trees you can mix and mingle. (most companions only have 2 skill trees) and neither the main character or any companions share a single skill tree. pillars has 8 different classes
-companions are much better in terms of story
-guns. you get to use guns, and they are very powerful/fun
-sidequests. waaaaaaaaay more sidequests than in tyranny. Tyranny has some here and there but not nearly as many
-much more difficult encounters. This may be a pro for tyranny depending on how you enjoy a challenge, but in tyranny there is only 1 battle that is extremely challenging your fist time through. but the hardest difficulty in pillars will have you stuck on many different encounters researching, preparing, strategising, and cheesing.
tyranny pros:
-you get to play the bad guy
-much much much better combat mechanics. in pillars there are zero threat generation skills. But in tyranny there are a few, as well as the ability to customizie spells, mele weapons that can serve as ranged (you can chose to either throw the weapon with infinite ammo or mele for increased damage with at any time you want with no negative side effects), better consumables, skills have cooldowns instead of per rest and per encounter,
more unique builds, and better AI. honestly this is the only reason that i thought tyranny was good at all. the combat is that good. it brings me back to the days of dragon age 2 where i would replay a game just to experience every encounter in a different light
-leveling up will feel a lot more exciting. in pillars you get standard leveling up bonuses like accuracy, health, and resistances, and you have limited choices aside from that. You still pick askills and talents, but every class shares most available talents so they do not feel like they do not feel as large of an upgrade as adding to your skill tree in tyranny will.
-Skill based leveling, this game levels you up similar to how the elder scrolls series does it. You use a skill, it improves, progress is made for leveling up. its a nice way to make your characters feel more specialized
-consumable use. When you use up a consumable in tyranny they are all on their own seperate global cooldown. (20 seconds iirc) but when you use up a consumable in pillars it takes up an action. so you are replacing an attack or weapon skill with the use of a potion, so you will find yourself using them a lot less in pillars
-every playthrough is different. you spend a few minutes at the beginning making decisions that impact how the game will be once you start.
-new game+, when you beat the game you get to start over, make all new decisions, and still keep your character level/a couple of pieces of gear
-weapon poisons, and elemental weapon skills. In pillars you can upgrade weapons to do elemental damage, but this game lets you cahnge them on the fly
-no door blocking. The strat used in pillars that makes so many encounters trivial is barely ever useful in this game
conclusion:
I am sure there is more that i am forgetting, and not everyone will like the same differences about the games. Both games are challenging and fun. I would suggest pillars of eternity first because the better combat mechanics of tyranny might spoil you into not being able to enjoy the pillars of eternity story. Which is my 2nd favorite video game story ever told. (first is final fantasy tactics)
