No, not anymore because the game is almost three years old.
Most of the stronghold features have only been added to the game for one of the biggest kickstarter campaign stretch goals. Some people have thought it would be a great idea to add some sort of stronghold to the game to make kickstarter backers happy - among them some, who would always point the finger at Baldur's Gate II and its various stronghold options.
Caed Nua involves very simple role-playing decisions. It is not a main quest and not even a quest at all. You may ignore the stronghold completely. No harm is done, if you do that. You may even ignore the Endless Paths of Od Nua below the keep, which are not part of the main quest either. You may also ignore the A Call To Court mission added by The White March DLC.
Anyway, since you've slain Maerwald, the previous master of the keep, you have become the new owner of the keep. The stewart tells you that you've inherited Caed Nua, and thus you need to deal with the random events. Or ignore them. Or reconstruct the helpful/interesting buildings, but then you may need to return to your keep and defend it manually, since the guards aren't helpful.
The only thing strictly necessary is to restore the Eastern Barbican, so you can leave south - since due to the current floods caused by heavy rain, there is no other way to reach Defiance Bay. And you've experienced the stuff around Madhmr Bridge for yourself, I guess.

Caed Nua management micro game is total disaster...
