What is the most OP class for Triple crown?
...not solo.

(Please, no spoilers)

Regardless of reason or rhyme, I simply wish to know what an EZ-mode type character is for a triple crown playthrough?


I have read that a Paladin aiming for a strong Immolation build is quite a force to be reckoned with, however I don't wish to have to wait 20-40+ hours to level up to lv13 before my char becomes powerful.

Asking about the "most OP class" doesn't make much sense, since you can fill the entire party with your own custom adventurers, and that means it can be more than a single class.

So, you want to finish the game around level 9 or so?

Note that XP is the same for all, whether there are six companions or just two.

I think he means he doesnt want to play through 80% of the game before his build really comes online.
I sometimes feel the same way about a couple builds since they really take LVL13 or so to be good.
You cannot reach level 13 without playing 80% of the game, since the base game ends at level 12. You would need to play all of it and start The White March 1, at least, to reach higher levels.

If the party were strong enough to finish the game much earlier, you could get Triple Crown achievement even before reaching the base game's level cap, but it would take lots of extra hours to get Frozen Crown.

Also, many a build comes with the requirement to find special items, and that may make it necessary to complete most areas. Without the right equipment, the build doesn't work well or even suffers from requiring micro-management for a longer time.

And you are 100% correct.


I don't have a great deal of time to play games. And for once I'd like to just be 'handed' an OP setup that I can coast through on. As opposed to working it out myself then dying 30 hours in on Trial of Iron.

So why not just play on easy?
That's my own issue. Have to play games on the hardest difficulty.

It's just that this time I want to have my cake and eat it too.

I'm not after judgement. Just some help/ideas.

afaid I cannot help you too much.
No such thing as an early build. Most of them gradually become better and better as you gain levels.
This is not really a game you rush through. Whatever party composition you do, you will have to take 60-ish hours to finish the game.

One advice I can give you is make your own characters. Game gets somewhat easier that way. But I cannot give you advice that makes learning the ins and outs unnecessary. some of us here spent hundreds of hrs to learn the game so nowdays if I run a new character I can breeze through in 30-ish hours no problem.

Anyways. If you want a party composition that I *know* it works on Triple Crown, here goes.

- Fighter. two handed weapons focus. (good throughout all game)
- Paladin, Kind Wayfayer, healing focused, weapon+ shield style (starts good and gets better with levels, peaks at LVL13)
- Chanter, for chanting "the dragon slashed the drgaon wailed", really tanky build, hatchet+shield. (comes online as soon as LVL9 and stays super good all game)
- Barbarian, CC focus, Tall Grass (thats a two handed pike) or Starcaller (one handed flail) + Goadshuntyr (1h hammer). (comes online as soon as you get to Dyrford which should be 10-ish hours)
- Priest, for buffing (the healing is mostly done by the paladin & the frontliners). You can totally use durance or any other priest of magran with an arquebus. (good all game)
- Ranger, Stormcaller build, bear. (super good all game, gets progressively better when you get the 2nd upgrade to Stormcaller which takes a while, peaks at LVL13)

I am taking my time on Path of the Damned. I would say the sword and shield build is probably the most durable in a fight and you get some decent perks early on. my DW barb didn't start feeling like a powerhouse till level 6 or 7. And a monk with high damage can be a mosnter by level 9.

Mages and casters are helpful at any level. You will rely on their buffs and spells on higher levels as much as you did at the start, but you do need to provide them protection and distraction for them to cast spells without getting interrupted and cut down.

mage types are great on all difficulties but it is really hard to aim their spells on expert so that's why I recommend a CC barb for reliable control.
Offensive fighters (quick and hitting reliably) with focus on passive abilities start strong and get better all the time. Three fighters, one two-handed, one with weapon and shield, one dual-wielding. All with knock-down and possibly extra knock-down later, and Charge much later. One of them could take the smaller Paladin aura, in case you don't want a full Paladin. Make the fighters even stronger with a battle priest (such as a Priest of Berath), which is a priest that can survive directly behind the frontliners or between them and do close combat if not being busy with magic. Several of a priest's support spells cover a rather small area, and it's a waste to exclude a battle priest from that area. Druid instead of wizard as versatile damager and supporter. Sixth party slot free choice.

I'd say sixth party slot ranger with a bear.
Scales incredibely well with whatever effect you have on your favorite bow, due to piercing shot and twinned arrows. Also incredible accuracy which never hurts on potd.
The extra (half) body also never hurts on potd.

2 things that come to mind:
1, Charge. A good fighter build with charge actually becomes the best AoE nuker in the game, mages be damned. Daamge-wise, Charge is on- par with a LVL7 wizard spell except it is 2 per combat. (biggest charge damage I've seen was somehting like 216, now multiply that by 2 and in an AoE)

2, Mages. On expert, wizard spells are really hard to aim, but they are also incredibely useful Best assortment of CC in the whole game. CC is something you will very much need. So there are a couple things you can do such as:
- Not play a mage. You will have to manage CC somehow. Either somehting like CC barb or Stormcaller ranger, or some form of reduced CC like druid.
- Play lots with mages on non-expert and learn their spell targeting in and out.
- Max INT on them and just cast whatever, let Jesus Eothas take the wheel and hope your spells hit. (not recommended)
- Swap in a custom mage at high levels (ie when your main hits LVL12). High- level mage spells are devastating and either have broad areas (ranging from half a battle like Call to Slumber to half a screen like Arkemyr's Capricious Hex) , or have alternate targeting like Concelhaut's Crushing Doom (pretty much best spell in the game btw), Thayn's Chaotic Orb or Wall of Many Colors or powerful summons like that magical bow or the staff. You will still have about 30% of the lategame content ahead of you so plenty of time for mages to shine.

I found hold the line pretty handy. In the early areas it was good to keep enemies blocked off and away from my mages so that they can cast spells without being interrupted too much. However, eventually you will find perks enchanted on armors and clothing which will allow you to save your points for other more effective skills.
