Complete "Buried Secrets" early or revisit later?

I'm new to this type of game (more used to Diablo and the Elder Scrolls; never played Baldur's Gate, etc.) and I gotta say it's pretty challenging! But interesting enough to have me keep trying.

I'm in the very early stage and was just given the Buried Secrets quest. I didn't find any key from scouting and the only piece of clue I found was that I should ring the large bell first (not sure even that is correct). I cleared the first floor except for the one in the bottm left corner with four Skuldrs. The closest I've come to surviving them was killing three of them... and then I died.

Should I come back to finish the quest when I'm stronger? I'm a wood elf ranger and traveling with Aloth and a wolf companion. (I'm trying not to read the guides/wikis to avoid spoilers.)

Any advice you might have to a newbie would be greatly appreciated as well.

Which difficulty level have you chosen?

You could have picked up the fighter NPC companion waiting at Gilded Vale near the temple entrance. There are more companions in nearby areas. And you can hire companions at the inn.

But else, one can do that temple early, provided that you know what to do against Skuldrs and Shades/Shadows/Phantoms.

I chose Normal. Can I still add the fighter NPC to the party or is that not possible anymore?

Nevermind, figured it out in the end. I keep thinking in terms of other RPGs where the follower is limited to one haha. I haven't figured out which skills are most affective to which type of enemies, but I'll keep trying until I find out. :)

You can only figure that out by reading the combat log and the ingame Bestiary in the journal section where you complete the enemy stats eventually as you kill more enemies of the same type.
