Brackenbury Sanitorium bug
Hi there.

I'm currently doing the quest "The man who waits", but upon trying to enter the door in the basement of the Sanitorium, I find myself locked out and with no options left to try.

The guards just say stuff like "I can't believe I'm taking orders from a statue", and the door stays locked and needs a special key to be opened.
My journal says that I have been granted access by the statue guy upstairs.
No dialogue options left in the whole building, and yes, I've tried talking to everyone like 5 times over now to make sure that I haven't missed anything.

Anyone else having this problem?

/N

Weird. I suppose you are talking about the access to the patient wing. Did you READ (and not only pick up) the notes in the room with the assistant (right handed side in front of the door with guards)? Maybe they unlock further dialogue. Although i don't think this was necessary.

Yep. Never ever had any issue down there.

Is it the door to the patient ward right behind the two guards? Or the second locked door to the north ward? That one is far to the north-east.

Hmm, no I have not picked up the four notes that are found in the assistants room. Since it showed a "stealing" mouse pointer when hoovering over the small container I figured it should be optional and unecessary when having in mind that I'm supposedly given acess to the place by the statue guy.
I will however try to pick them up and also read them for starters, and see if that helps. Thanks for the tip!

And also - yes, I am talking about the very first closed/locked door that you come across down in the basement. It is guarded by two guards, and I guess that it leads to the patient wing.

Wow, okay... it seems like I was a total n00b.

For some reason I didn't understand that I was supposed to snoop around in these papers, but it was the solution to my problem.

Thank you very much for the help!

(ps. the mouse pointer was also not turned into the "steal" symbol, just the "pick lock" symbol, so I was wrong on that)

When taking items from a container would count as "stealing", the title of the container would tell that. Those papers in the Sanitarium can be taken without any consequences. Or right-clicking them to read them without taking them is enough, too.

you dont even have to read those if you convince some of the staff to let you in.
