not to mention the "huge" 14 GB of space this game takes up lol they sell TBs of storage for like $20, slap it on your computer
Anyway, I moved the game to my SSD and there was zero difference in loading times, so I guess it's an issue with Unity itself. Ah well.
yea, unity is a horrible engine, you could buy a license for it rn then slap together some assets and finish your first game in a couple weeks
I'm not sure what, specifically, is going on with Unity here. Maybe it's auto-saving at every load screen? Maybe it's checking over the save file (which, in PoE, is big)? Wastleand 2 and the Shadowrun games also use Unity, without any comparable issues.
I don't yet know whether there's an improvement going from SSD to M.2 SSD.
In practice, I would say no.
I went from a Samsung Pro 850 500GB, to a Pro 960 1TB version, and there's zero difference in games, so I would not advocate for people to spend their money on nVME disks for gaming. It's a pure epeen thing.
The game's loading times are due to the game excessive file accesses when loading new areas.
Or you could just have read the second post in the thread, where I stated that I moved the game to my SSD, and load times were unaffected.
