is this game just single player ?

i know it says single player but i remember playing this game with my friends so has this got a multiplayer mod or something ? or am i getting this game mixed with something else i remember a tree having hanged dead people on it in the middle of a town ?

single player only. There´s indeed a tree with dead people hanging of it, but you mix something up with another game.

Maybe you're thinking of baldurs gate? Very similar to this game (I sometimes mix things up between them) with multiplayer.

Contrary to Pillars of Eternity, which really is not multiplayer capable, but features that tree with hanging people. If you've played it with friends, tell more. Do you own a copy bought elsewhere? Did you play over the Internet? Or locally? Ask your friends?

its so strange i dont own it a friend has it and when i speak to my other friend he remembers playing something like it with me lol he mentioned the gold floor you have to do a puzzle with maybe we are both crazy

PoE doesn't feature any "gold floor you have to do a puzzle with" - it's not exactly a game where you need to solve many riddles in general. The starting tutorial dungeons includes a chessboard style field of traps, but that's not a puzzle, just something where you can practice disarming traps.
