Blade of the Endless Paths - gave parts, no get sword option

Hi, I've looked at earlier discussions, when no solution. I got the parts to take to a smith, and went to the Crucible Knights. The Forge Knights battle was going on, when I went to Clyver at the end, the smith was there too. I gave him the parts, he started pounding away in the map room; no option to get the sword then, so I went elsewhere. When I returned, he was back in the smithy, but no get-sword dialogue options. Is this just too bad, or can I still get it?. I can't go back to a point before I gave him the parts.

Look, what do you hope for? If you haven't kept a savegame file for unknown reasons - or played at Trial of Iron mode - you cannot even test whether it is reproducible. It just works for others, but maybe you've stumbled into a very rare bug. And you've also searched the inventory and Stash?

I have savegames, but not far back enough to redo this, even if were possible; and a lot has happened ingame since I gave the sword parts. Not in inv or stash. And back in 2015 discussion, several had this problem, none could solve it, I wondered if anything had emerged since. Not so rare, it seems to depend on the sequence of events - e.g., give the parts before the Forge Knights battle. But the way I proceeded in the game, when I took the parts to the CK, the FK battle was on. Probably the game is structured so that you have to complete the Blade quest before the FK battle. Although that seems odd to me.

Yeah, that would be odd. Crucible Keep and Dunstan are back to normal afterwards. I've had him forge the blade in several playthroughs both early and late - but probably never directly in Clyver's room after the attack.

Discussions from 2015 may be completely irrelevant. You could visit the official tech support forum and see whether you find a topic/ticket there - then update that one with a comment. If it has only been discussed outside the tech support forum, it could be that the problem is not known to the developers yet.

This is the most recent topic I can find on the subject--this bug is clearly still in the game, as every single person who has this issue handed in the four parts of the blade during the attack on Crucible Keep. It is mystifying that it has not been fixed, can it possibly be that pernicious?

If you find an old topic in that forum where the QA developer had responded already, consider refreshing it with a comment. And even if it can be reproduced, it may be difficult to fix due to engine restrictions.
