3.06 Solo POTD questions
So I've spent hours upon hours scouring the interwebs trying to find Solo POTD information, tips, strategies and methods that aren't outdated by +2 years, even posts as recently as winter of 2016 have people responding with very outdated information, (like the barbarian 20 base damage patch).

Which classes would YOU recommend for a SOLO POTD run? Do you skip content, or is it a "i can kill dragons.. once i am geared + max level" setup? And most importantly, WHY did you pick that class over all the others? What makes your choice the obvious standalone "best" for solo runs?

I've recently been messing around with solo barb on normal to see if it's a viable class still, as it seems designed for 1 vs many encounters, so far i've come up with the amuama race that reduces stun+prone, and high resolve so you don't get interrupt-locked, and decently high constitution so you actually live through combat. I have been trying to go dual wield barb since many of his offensive abilities are full attacks, meaning both weapons, but I'm hesitant to *not* go 2h for anti big-baddies for POTD, where everything is more dangerous and more numerous. Penny for your thoughts!

No idea where you've searched, but we've had some topics about the various solo achievements here at Steam - and there are various topics in the official forum. And they refer to the v3 releases of the game, of course, not the old rules from 2015.

Really only solo PotD? Not Trial of Iron and Expert mode? Only Triple Crown Solo, which means finishing the base game? Or Frozen Crown Solo, which includes finishing the White March? Or The Ultimate, which requires PLAYER to kill all dragons, various bosses, major wizards and do all bounties?

As you can read in various comments on solo runs, don't hope for a simple build guide that gives you some starting attributes and a race/class pair. There are enough braggarts in some places, who talk about over-powered builds and things like that, but afterall it must be you to figure out how to be successful in the game. You need to be familiar with the game, such as with conversation options, if you're going to play with Expert mode turned on.

For solo runs, classes I'm fond of: Chanter, Paladin, Monk.

Monk is what I had started with, but not on PotD mode. Just test solo runs to practice split-pulling and other combat tricks. With a focus on passive and per encounter abilities. Bleak Walkers Paladin is what I've chosen to do Frozen Crown Solo with a focus on high defenses, high damage, high Accuracy, high speed and minor details, such as becoming a Sanctifier, and the cruel/aggressive disposition to get some bonuses. And finally, Chanter is what I've chosen last because the class provides PLAYER with endless healing, endless summons, endless spells (== phrases and invocations), and base high Deflection. In all runs I've used split-pulling to reduce the size of mobs, since engaging more than two enemies at once is not a good idea. And I knew that I would need to practice kiting for at least one big fight - the one against Llengrath.
