Craigholdt cave door
There appears to be a door at the end of the tunnel off the cave, which I can't open. Do the baddies on the bluff have a key? I killed some, but got overwhelmed when I tried to defeat the rest. Or is there another way to get the door open? Thanks.

Discovered the Gamepedia site and that an orlan has the key. Now to see if I can get it ...

Oops, the orlan's key is only to a chest ...
You can open that door with a lever on the other side. :steamhappy:

As in, I must be behind the door? I.e., an alternate access which i haven't found as a I can't get past the baddies? Or have I just overlooked it in the cave? Currently at Stalwart.
Surely all fights in that area are doable. In case of doubt, return at a higher level.

Those merceneries are possibly the strongest enemies in the game that are not some sort of bosses. But they are killable and their greatest advantage comes from not only being individually strong, but also appearing in greater numbers able to overwhelm anyone.

But where strength does not help, you have strategy and can, with time and careful positioning, trigger and kill them group by group until you arrived at the gate of the tower they are attacking.

Or you make a different group composition as I found that when I left tha magic users behind and took only my fighters (Eder, Pallegina, Zahua, Maneha, Durance for healing and support .. my character was a Ranger) there, I had no more trouble there.

Thanks, Rin, good advice. I do where possible pick off tough opponents in small groups, and a tougher squad is definitely needed. My lead character can take a lot of punsihment, the others less so. I'll do Stalwart quests then return to Cragholdt (unless its time-limited).

Thanks, D'Amarr, I went to the page but quickly exited because of the full area map with details - I'd rather go there in ignorance - I'd only been along the edge of the bluff, but now have a broad picture of the whole map. I'll return later with a tougher squad a la Rin.
Crägholdt has been released explicitly as optional content for high-level parties, and there is no time limit in the game.

It's a fast exit you have gotten through the area via the 'normal' route.
