Of course, there are other ranged weapon choices for a Wood Elf.
what are good talents for aloth and durance, cant figure out what to pick and I need to level them up at some points. I do not intend to use arquebuse or sword with durance, so I'm hesitating between brillant radiance vs interdiction.
As for Aloth, Penetrating blast ? Bonus spell level 1 ?
Discussions like these make no sense at all, if not mentioning the difficulty level that is played at.
There are many options to choose from, but it doesn't result in a search for the holy grail, because there are many ways to be successful. All too often it is only a matter of taste.
About Interdiction: Do you like the description of it? Do you like that it attacks Will defense? Do you like its duration? Do you like the Dazed affliction it causes? Do you like the Accuracy bonus it gives? And instead of using Interdiction at any time during combat, such as when its area covers a bunch of enemies, would you rather do something else and cast a spell?
About Brilliant Radiance: Do you use Holy Radiance often? Do you like the modification of it by Brilliant Radiance? Does the modification add anything you would find beneficial?
I'm playing on normal difficulty.
Aloth is in my stronghold, but IF one takes him instead of making a NPC wizard, then wound binding (one self heal per rest) and weapon of choice skill (twohanded for quarterstaff or spear, Gunner for Musket or Arquebuss or Pistol) DOES make him more useful.
On Nexus there is a firearms upgrade mod, and one allowing dual wielding of firearms, even with a torch or dagger instead of 2 pistols! Such CAN help, if a needed character is at stake of becoming useless... Prob is installing them into Steam is manually done, some are too nervous or too dumb for such.
Honestly, on Normal, it barely matters. As long as you're not sending your characters into the middle of giant packs of forest trolls, you should be fine. Just choose what play-style you like.
