In-Game HUD And How To Make It Better
On the right upper corner, are currently the character-icons and a curved bar changing color to indicate damage taken, during any match.
And i have to say... it is just terrible.

For 2 reasons:
1) Some peeps happen to be colorblind.
2) It is too big of a distraction to move the eyes up there, away from the action. Which leaves your opponent an advantage, because you simply wanted to know how freaking dead either of you are.
When you look in the upper right corner, you can't see what happens on the rest of screen.

And yes i am aware of the fact that when you land a hit, the target shines in the color of its damage taken, but i refer to reason #1.

Smash Bros. on the opposite did it right since 1999.
Which is the direction i will go in this thread.

1) The damage-indicators should be in the middle on the bottom.
2) They should show a number that indicates the taken damage. As reference i would like to jump to the Training Mode, where you can pre-set a numerical amount of damage, which is great.
Also the damage you do is in Training Mode visible as a number after a single attack, string or combo.

It is just not good to guess how much damage you took or dealt according to a color you can only see when you distract yourself.

By the way, i am not saying that the displayed numbers can't be colored.
They can still follow the color-concept.

To summer it up: Damage Indicators in the middle bottom of the screen, and showing numbers to indicate damage.

I think color indicators are what brawlhalla kinda unique to the other games with the Super smash feel, they could probably just add color blind mode

Being unique and edgy doesn't mean to be better.
Sometimes, it is for the worse.

I'm not fully against your idea, but it's just I really doubt we will get a percentage meter.
For me I personally prefer to have it at the top right, but the devs could add an option to move it anywhere on the screen.
On the color blind thing, just chaning the hues of the colors could probably fix the problem for color blind people. And if you really want to fully customize the hud hopefully the devs could add custom huds on the steam workshop.

Percentage meter. Damage meter. Jesus Christ man no need to nitpick.
They can easily introduce color blind mode, grayscale or something similiar. Could apply tro both players and the damage meter.
I also think then top right is the best place for the damage meter. Your character flashes showing their health when hit and if zi need to check its easy enough to flick my eyes up and check.
Doesn't leave me at a disadvantage whatsoever.
