Strange Controller Bug

When dodging with either trigger button (default) if I try to dodge again before the cooldown expires then I do a taunt of one of my right-thumbstick emotes, one for right shoulder, another for left.

Going into settings and re-assigning the same default trigger buttons for dodge and then saving works to clear the taunts from those buttons entirely. However, when loading into a new session this same problem starts over again from the beginning, even though I have clicked "save and apply" afterwards.

I tried 3 different controllers and even verifying the files and this all just keeps happening all over again every new session. So in effect, every session I have to first re-assign the shoulder buttons to clear the taunts in case I try to dodge again before the cooldown ends. (Before I fully realized what was going on, one dude was like "you shouldn't taunt that much" in post chat, lol. Woops!)

Note that the keyboard button for dodge doesn't do this. Only the controller buttons.

Question, did you at any point switch your controller settings in Steam?

I'm not sure, maybe. But I don't see how that would matter since none of my other games are affected at all.

the reason I ask is because I've run into this issue before, if your controller settings WITHIN STEAM are not set to default, it becomes impossible to save new key bindings for the controls IN GAME.

You'll likely be able to fix the issue by reverting your STEAM control settings to default, loading up the game and saving the new desired key binding.

After that you can turn whatever STEAM control settings you had back on.

It definitely worked for me, good luck.

Because I've had the same issue before and solved it. gimme a sec lemme look at the UI for steam.

yeah just go to big picture mode>library>brawlhalla>manage controller configs>recommended> then select "gamepad" that's the default.

Ok well I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but this same bug is there for me.

Also, sometimes, randomly, even though I may rebind my triggers, I may emote in some matches without meaning to. And this is not me accidentally hitting my right thumbstick either. I have been extremely careful to watch for when I am doing it on accident and when it is being forced on me and it has definitely been forced on me in many different instances now.

I have never gotten a response back to my original email to brawlhalla support. I will send another one soon but I am seriously not expecting a response back at this point.

Is anyone contacting brawlhalla support and getting support back recently?

I have been experiencing this exact same issue for months with LB set to Dodge, with both a gamepad and a leverless controller using XInput. I'm surprised it was first reported in 2021. To avoid the problem, I use keyboard input for the leverless controller, which is not ideal.

Ok so i have the same bug...and i just found it it happens when u press dodge/dash 3x times fast...and when dodge/dash is on X (ps5) controller...really weird
