Surround Sound
When i have a 5.1 surround audio device set as the output for my computer, every ounce of sound from brawlhalla goes to the rear two speakers. No, the problem is not with my setup, as every other app works fine. With speaker fill On or Off all of brawlhallas sound goes to the two rear speakers. Anybody know why?

It's probably running in dual channel. Which means you need to set your speakers to dual channel instead of surround sound. Which makes sense, given that it's a 2d game.

G'luck, let me know if you need any help!

If i set it to dual channel i only get sound from my two front speakers. Plus, if its running in dual channel, it would only make sound on the front two speakers, not the back. And i have other apps that are dual channel, which Speaker Fill handles and puts then to all of the speakers. Brawlhalla only gives sound through the rear two speakrs, with speaker fill on, or off.

I would recommend using a hardware alternative for this mate. Does your receiver support upmixing at all?

The receiver cant, because im plugging it into my computer as surround sound, three audio jacks. My point is, every other app i have works, because it sends stereo, the speaker fill sees "oh this is stereo i should upmix" and it works. Brawlhalla isnt working because it is sending to the rear speaker, which it can only do if its not sending stereo. if it sends stereo, it would either get upmixed or just appear on the LR speakers. Somehow it is sending surround, just only using the Rear speakers. The upmixer sees "oh hes not sending just to the LR speakers" so it doesnt upmix it. With the upmixer off it still sends to the rear speakers. With no upmixer, it is impossible for the rear speakers to activate from non-surround sound sounds. Therefore bh must be weirdly doing it so that it sends stereo to the rear two speakers, which turns it into surround since those can only be accessed through surround sound.

Even then there should be ways to settings you can change to make sure it comes out as stereo. I'll look into it on my end, but keep in mind I'm doing this out of my own volition as this goes beyond my role as a moderator.

The simplest way I can imagine is to just mute brawlhalla on your surroundsound out in your sound settings. You could probably even set up an event to do this when brawlhallla starts up.

On the hardware side, you could also just throw in a simple toggle switch on your surround sound out if that would trigger the upmixing on your receiver.

On that note, is there no way to manually set your receiver to upmix?

I cannot upmix with hardware, as i am outputting surround sound from the computer. (I have three audio cables plugged into the computer. LR, Center+Sub, Back LR) I upmix using windows built in upmixing for a surround sound out. If there was a way i could change the audio output brawlhalla uses without changing the rest of my system (Eg. change it without changing default audio device) i could change it to a stereo out i have that loops back to an input and write a program to output that to the surround sound and get upmixed. Unfortunately, i do not know of a way to change only brawlhalla to a different audio output. Tbh at this point im used to only hearing brawlhalla from behind me :steambored: so unless i come up with something i miught just leave it like this.
