What do the stats mean?
I was just wondering what the stats are exactly and what they mean. I think there's a speed one and defense, but it looks like two different attack ones or something and I'm just curious. Anyone know?

i believe in order its: Attack, Attack speed, Defence, Speed

That would make sense.
Normal attack, Heavy attack, Defense and Speed

Well now I'm confused again with these conflicting answers.

Hey guys, just to clear this up (and we will make this clearer in-game), the stats are:

Strength: Directly factors into how hard all of your hits are, except the ones that always hit for a fixed impulse.
Dexterity: This is your attack speed. The higher your dexterity, the quicker attacks start and end.
Defense: Determines how quickly you slow down after being launched by a hit.
Speed: Affects how fast you run and how far some of your attacks move you (e.g. your recovery moves, ground pounds, and some select other moves like the sword's forward light on the ground).

I hope this helps :)

That helps quite a bit. Thank you.

I wanted to necro this thread as I recently figured out in training that the first stat wasn't attack damage and know a lot of people still think that.

Wondering why Dexterity isnt simply called "Attack Speed", easier to understand. Dexterity seems like it could be all^^

i'm assuming they wanted to go all 1 word for the stats.

.:EDIT:.
I'd more or less rename them these
Force
Swiftness/quickness
Weight
Movement

Then can you explain why Scarlet does less damage with the lance than Vraxx and Orion?

I'm in training mode to see how strength matters for certain characters. So I took Vraxx, Orion, Scarlet, and Roland and had them all fight against Sentinel to compare their damage. I used the forward charge attack with the lance to test this out. That attack hits 6 times, 5 small hits and 1 final hit that does a little more damage.

With Vraxx and Orion, whom both have 4 strength, doing the forward charge attack I do 55 damage vs Sentinel. I see the damage on the screen as 9 + 9 + 9 + 9 + 9 + 10.

With Roland, who has 5 strength, I do 54 damage. With Scarlet, who has 8 strength, I do 54 damage still. I see the damage on the screen as 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 10. (which adds up to 50?)

So with both Roland and Scarlet I am doing less damage even though their strength is higher. I would expect these numbers to be very close but after testing multiple times this result is very consistent. 55 damage with Vraxx and Orion, 54 damage with Roland and Scarlet.

I'm going to bug report this, but I would like to hear if anyone else has experienced discrepancies with the stats and what characters actually do.

hattori and Ada have that with their spear too. hattori gets 1 point more of damage on a few things. Its a weird anomaly.

Strength is the impulse, not the damage. Dont know how far the physics go but it could be possible that the speed causes more damage because the attack moves you more. Could also be that they reduced the damage to balance the characters a bit. Or like you said, simply a bug.

@chuiu
Strength is impulse not damage, meaning that everyone should do the same amount of damage with the same moves. That being said, I was able to replicate your tests. We're looking into whether it's a display issue or an actual combat issue. Thanks for finding that for us.

Good catch, thanks everyone. Looks like there was a bug where the multiplier for charged powers wasn't correctly accounting for attack speed. This would only have happened when a power was fully charged.

As for the 8's not adding up to 54, the Training Mode display rounds down any fractional damage.
