Why in the hell is there a $99 version?
I was interested in picking this game up, but when I saw the optional $99 version, I became suspicious. Is this some P2W / get extra (often times better) characters kind of BS?

The store page is rather clear on what you get for that money:
Instant Beta Access! | 3 Beta Invite Codes!
Collectors Nameplate | Collectors "Asgardian Elite" Weapon Skins | Collectors "Champion of the Brawl" Bodvar Skin | Collectors "Flames of Ragnarok" KO special effect | Founders Nameplate | Steampunk VALKRI | 3400 Mammoth Coins ($150 worth)

*Collectors "Asgardian Elite" Weapon Skins usable by all characters.
*Collectors Nameplate, Founders Nameplate, and Collectors "Flames of Ragnarok" KO special effect not pictured.

Skin, skin, skin, special animation, skin again and in-game-currency for in-game store (in order to buy more skins...)

There's no such thing as P2W or extra to become stronger in Brawlhalla and devs have said more than ten times that there will never be anything such as this.

Ah, I didn't see that on the front page when I thumbed through it, I suggest to them that they make it more clear, to not scare off potential customers. Thanks for the heads up guys. Game looks pretty cool, but whenever I see a high price tag for an 'upgrade version' its normal to be skeptical.

I mean, I would appreciate if if they just said outright on the store page that the game will have a B2P model for the characters, but not like it matters since I just play Scarlet, Hattori, and Ada, and the game has no real counters anyway. P2W? No. Does it rub me the wrong way? Yeah.

It is not buy to play. It will be free to play once released. It will have a free legend rotation, and the option to unlock characters through playing.

Ah that makes a lot more sense, thanks. Not interested in F2P games with buying options, I just don't like the design choice. I'm sure it's a good game, but i'd rather pay for a game up front and know what i'm getting, and not have to debate with myself about whether or not an in-game purchase is worth it.

It is there to support the devs to keep making this awesome game. You can't get any advantage at all in this game by paying money and never will be. All of the things you can buy are cosmetics.

I mean, that's debatable. I love Brawlhalla but buying an S-tier character is certainly buying an advantage over those who can't afford it. Now, yes, you can pay for it with in-game currency, too, but if they expect people to actually pay for characters every now and then, the prices will no doubt be annoying as all get-out to grind.

Except you can win with any character versus any character... And again, mammoth coins don't give you anything except cosmetics.

It is always your own choice what for characters you want to play. I dont need 100+ characters like in League of Legend to play, some are fine. If you think a particular character is too good, then just save the earned points, you get by playing, to unlock that character permanantly. Or just have fun with available characters in the free rotation. In League you can save earned points and just spend them when the new character is released. So you could have it at release.

Usually in asymetric games where options are differents, two players of the same level get their advantage from their choice. There's already a tiers list which means some match-ups are more favorable than others. Even if it's light, the fact is that you actually get an advantage by getting an "overall" better character.

That advantage is minimal though, and the better player usually comes out on top.

The only thing I don't really get is what value you get for the coins......it says 150 dollars, but that does not mean anything if you don't know the pricing or the number of stuff you can get with the coins.
I know it would be hard to say right now because it is hard to say how big this game will be, but some kind of example would be nice (in the description for the founder and collectors pack)

At the moment you can get nearly all skins, if not all. Too lazy to add the skin prices together.
