What is your favorite person or who do you play the most?
Do you know the combonations of moves for them?
Do you do alot of heavy attacks?

This game is very very hard for a beginner to *this* game, and so much more to a beginner to this genre of game.

But that's where the replayability and time investment comes from, self improvement rather than character progression.

It's endless because the skill ceiling is endless.

Go to training mode and see which attacks come from each directional press, when you have a bit of muscle memory built up for doing the correct attack, have a look at the range of the attack and figure out it's hitbox. After that you can make the training dummy fight you to start putting it to use.

Try each legend and see which suits your playstyle. Spend some time and become familar with them, then you should have a decent grasp to think if you want to stick with that one or if there's something more suitable. Then keep going.

Fight a bot on easy, when you can beat him fight two bots set to easy. When you can win those set them to a team. Still winning? good.. set a single bot on medium. rinse and repeate, you got yourself a tutorial ;P

Don't use your signatures (heavy attacks) too often. Being predictable will get you squanched. Either learn to combo into a signature or bait them into wasting their dodge.

bots and ffa is quite normal for a beginner, wouldnt touch ranked though at the start.... most people in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tin rank already have 50+ hours played :P

I feel the game is a lot easier to pick up than other brawlers / fighters, but I guess it's still kinda hard. I just played for fun on ranked for a long time getting better.

For a fighting game, i think Brawlhalla is quiet newbie friendly. But of course if you never played a fighting game quiet seriously before this one still gonna give you a hard time.

I remember that when I came to this game, I had a lot of accidents because I did not know about the triple jump that any character had or that characters can climb walls. Once I got that in few bot matches I started to die a lot less and instantly started to have adventage againist easy/normal bots (well I've won my 2 first matches againist bots and my 2nd game in online).

Also all this is about experimentating which weapons you like at most and then based in these weapons pick your character. I liked a lot playing with the hammer and lance/spear were aceptable to manage to me, and I'm actually having much fun playing as Scarlet hammer/lance user.

When you've got the hang of the mechanics (there are 14 attacks for every moveset: neutral (press up or no arrow keys at all, makes no difference, just as or just before your press the attack button) light on the ground/air, side (press left or right with the attack button) light on the ground/air, down (press down with the attack button) light on the ground/air (ground/air moves are not the same), neutral heavy (known as the signature move for your character, since it's unique to every character unless they are unarmed) on the ground, side heavy (side signature) ground, down heavy (down signature) ground, neutral heavy in the air (also known as the recovery, makes you jump up a little acting as an extra jump or replacing any of your 3 jumps that you can do in mid-air) and down heavy in the air (ground pound, if you hit someone with that they are very likely to get sent downwards (depends on the weapon) and even off-screen if nothing is below them); a moveset is a weapon: bare hands (unarmed), sword, spear, hammer...; you can use any combination of jumps and recoveries (except all jumps or all recoveries) up to 4 times without touching the ground (touching a wall also counts, do wall jumps!), your character will get darker when you've got no jumps left, but you can still use any attack except recovery; pressing the dodge button without touching any arrow keys does a neutral dodge, it's faster than a normal dodge (where you dodge in a direction, diagonal dodges can be dkne by the way); all ground heavy signatures (amd rocket lance recovery) can be charged for more power by holding down the attack button) start attacking with different moves and see which ones hit your enemies in a way that they end up in range of another move of yours.
Get creative.
Here's a pointer: With unarmed, try doing the down light air right after jumping, so that when you hit your enemy you land. Keep holding down and press light again. Then jump, release down and press light again. Here's a combo. The faster you do it, the better.

After becoming better try learning tech. Such as gravity cancelling. You can find guides for this easily. Or just google "Brawlhalla tech".

The reason why it's hard to learn and all but noob-friendly unlike other combat games, IMO, is that the devs want there to be competition involved. If all the strategies, combos, moves etc were easy to learn, you'd get at a high level of skill in the game too quickly. Take as example other very competitive oriented games, like cs:go, well for a beginner it's sooo much harder to learn than for example CoD which isn't really involved in e-sports/competition.
