Can we disable certain maps for 2v2?
Honestly I can't stand getting a small stage on 2v2, it's not fun to play around having a partner that's just as much of a threat as my opponent because I can't put ample space between us. Shipwreck Falls and Mammoth Fortress are the biggest offenders, the stadium is annoying but less of a problem thanks to the gap in the middle.

+1 to removing Shipwreck Falls entirely.
The more I play the more I realise how bad is not having platforms.
I'd rather play that beta map with to pillars and a bunch if moving platforms between them before the shipwreck that is Shipwreck.

Or just get good enough as a team to be able to fight without hitting each other. Me and my teammate used to kill each other, now we barely touch each other and even make kickass combos.

I think that for 2v2, only the huge versions of maps should be used.

Screw shipwreck falls

I mean sure, I didn't make this thread not expecting to be told to get good, and it's entirely fair. My problem is that it's not fun, not that it's impossible. Look at competitive Melee, they don't use smaller maps for doubles matches because it gets crampt, sure good players can still probably do it, but no one wants to because those stages just aren't fit for doubles. I know it's not the greatest comparison but that's my logic in this.

Team play is also a skill. Map is big enough for 4 players. If you keep hitting your teammate blame both your lack of control and your teammate inability to dodge

Also wow, we posted almost at the same time those last 2 comments. In competitive melee they use these stages:

Yoshi's Story
Pokémon Stadium
Battlefield
Final Destination
Dream Land (N64)

and Counterpick:
Kongo Jungle 64

And they also have friendly fire on all the time. Heck, they even allow a team to steal a stock from the other teammate if more than 1 is available.

The point of the ranked games being more of a challenge is to not make it a casual game, to make it more competitive. To be fair I don't even think items should be on the ranked games, but as there's only 3 items, that are neither too op and easy to use/dodge for both parties, I don't mind them much. The Shipwreck map is basically Final Destination here anyways, so that's other reason I find it perfect. No platforms, no walls, fo---- Bödvar only.

EDIT: Those maps are for 2v2 melee competitive just in case

And tbh, the map I think shouldn't even be in ranked it's king's pass as it's the least neutral of the available, but then I guess that's just me not liking the map that much
