actually i main him, and really, i can't play anything else.
just remember:
down sig with blaster ====> top tier sig
neutral sig axe + gravity cancel can be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good
down sig with axe = super strong against sword and some fast character (like Asuri or Hattori)
side blaster ===> USELESS
Well. I'll just try to turtle even more. huh.
I'm salty enough, no need to continue.
Strength: Bulky, Signatures are mobile (Most of his signatures will move his hurtbox. This is AMAZING for gravity canceling), High KO potential in attacks.
Weakness: Slow attack speed (AS) and movement speed (MS), Poor combo game (Knocks away opponent before he can get multiple hits), His weapon combination (They aren't terrible, but I don't think they sufficiently cover each others weaknesses), Katars and Swords (Aggressive katars and swords are difficult to beat due to Barraza's weapon arsenal and his slow MS and AS)
Signature:
Blaster:
Down: Best Blaster sig hands down and shoots players straight up, so it can't be resisted easily. However, it is also the most predictable and tends to be over used even by good players. Best used only to finish off players. Do not use it as an anti-approach. You are better off just using the neutral/down quick attack (QA).
Side: Most under used sig. It isn't extremely potent. However, this move has amazing mobility and has the highest damage of the blaster sigs. If you are knocked off the side, gravity canceling into Side Sig is amazing as it will move you farther than a regular air dodge, punish aggressive players who will try to finish you off, and you can still do an aerial sig. Don't over use it as it is still punishable, but its an option that most players will never see coming.
Neutral: Great anti-air. Combos decently with side/neutral QA at low percents. Can kill at low percents. Use to apply pressure for players who love jumping, and by gravity canceling you can punish aggressive players due to its big hitbox and quick startup.
Axe:
Down: Anti-approach/spacing. Any sig that moves the character back before attacking makes for a good spacing option. Nice hitbox size and relatively quick speed makes it easy to throw out safely. It has the second highest base force (KO potential) and moves you backwards, so it wont combo easily.
Side: Scariest Sig in Barraza's arsenal. Fast, moves Barraza insanely far, and awesome KO potential. Gravity cancel with this sig will almost guarentee you get back on the stage. Eventhough its amazing, its still punishable and low overall damage, so be cautious. Most good players will know how to space this sig as Barraza players will over use this move till death.
Neutral: GET OVER HERE!!! Grabs opponent then throws them with amazing KO potential. Great finisher as most players will attempt to get back on stage by jumping over you. When they try, just hit them with this and watch them fly. Use with gravity cancel and it will move you diagonally up. Mostly safe as its fast and has a huge hitbox.
Conclusion: Overall a decent character. The only reason I feel he is under used is because katars and swords are really popular and hard to beat with Barraza. If there is a patch which nerfs swords/katars signifigantly then Barraza will truely shine.
P.S: If you have any suggestions to improve this little guide then post below.
Guns
Neutral Light > Neutral Heavy
Forward Light > Down Heavy
Down Light > Forward Heavy
Down Light > Forward Dodge > Neutral Heavy (Prob not best on skilled players)
From Air (First Attack)
Down Light > Neutral Light > Neutral Heavy
Down Light > Down Heavy
Down Light > Down Light > Forward Heavy
Down Heavy > Neutral Heavy (Both air attacks)
Axe
Forward Light, Down Light, Air Neutral Heavy
Down Light , Neutral Heavy
From Air (First Attack)
Down Light > Neutral Heavy
Down Light > Down Light > Air Neutral Heavy
Down Light > Neutral Light
Down Heavy > Dodge Forward > Forward Heavy (Prob not best on skilled players)
Now what I think you need to know about him as a character is. Guns work better defensively, while Axe is sort of a mixup. You need to do a lot of poking with him, and occasionally catch people off gaurd with the strings, trying to mix things up as much as possible to avoid being predictable. Also, don't stick to the ground with him too much, his greatest potential comes from quick drop attacking most of the time if you ask me. Thankfully Barraza has good defense, so he can take a beating during the effort to get those few good hits on someone.
Edit: You'll also notice 2 of my strings include dodges in them. Honestly, dodges are useful for all character for strings, not just avoid attacks, but continuing a chain of attacks. People often don't expect you to dodge in the middle of attacks to get to them quicker. That isn't to say it's always a good idea, you sort of need to guage it's usefulness on a player to player basis, but yah.
The salt went down now. I'm definitly going back to gold, and I'll do it with Barraza! I won't let the salt stop me! T_T
Thing is, I really prefer the 2v2 but I've got no one to play Brawlhalla with :(
It´s almost impossible to hit somebody whit the side sig pistols >_<
Barraza's side sig is easier to land than others, like Lucien's <.<
never give up bra ;)! i'm mid plat and i only play him, just train, don't spam, and never give up <3
(and don't try to play against hattori with barraza. its impossible
