Matchmaking algorithm
Can we like....I don't know, keep Golds fighting Golds and Plats fighting Plats? It's pretty annoying and poorly thought out when you're Gold 2 and face not 1, not 2, but SIX platinum players in a row while trying to get to plat.

I know, I know "Matchmaking is based off their current ELO", that's all fine and dandy but if a platinum players ELO is about to drop them back into Gold, maybe their matchmaking should continue keeping them fighting Platinum players and if they continue losing...well hey now they're Gold again.

Ive been trying to get into Platinum for over a year and a half now and have been within 2 wins of Platinum many times. I'm so fed up with 1 step forward and 2 steps back because of Matchmaking screwing me over.

inb4 git gud comments. My skill level is not the issue, it's not being able to play against players that LEGITIMATELY are a similar skill level as I am rather than the current system where I may be matched against someone who is many many leaps ahead of me skillwise just because their ELO is close to mine at that given point in time.

I'm so disheartened with this continued "climb" to try and reach platinum, when I know I should be in at the very least low Platinum by now (something something estimated 7000+ games played since closed beta), I'm very much contemplating quitting this game and moving on to something else. It's just not fun anymore, I feel like I'm just smashing my face against a wall because it "might" turn into a doorway "eventually".

I've spent time watching videos on strings, combos, techniques etc for my main Lord Vraxx. I've used them, I've even come up with my own unique ways of getting around certain players and it still isn't working to get me to the next level :(

What can I do to make this fun again, without swapping to a new main that follows the lecherous meta of scythe/cannon/bow annoyance? I refuse to play that way, as I absolutely see no actual skill in how those characters get played. Yes it works, but I strongly feel thats because the kits are badly in need of tweaking. Personal opinion I know, but I know I'm not alone in these thoughts.

I feel like a tighter ranked system would do brawlhalla a lot of good.

Some may argue that that may lead to longer wait times, but that's why we have casual matches.

To make things fun again though I'd just recommend practicing with friends. Play experimental, and meet new people.

Asis ranked can really take the fun out of the game.

In all honesty, I wouldnt mind longer wait time in ranked if it meant players were matched fairly against players with equivalent skill. Give them a chance to progress their skills naturally rather than forcefeeding them matches against players they have yet to have a whisper of a chance to beat.

Ive tried playing in custom games against random players for fun, and 9/10 rooms I get banned or kicked from as soon as I select my lvl 76 Lord Vraxx :( and FFA is just not fun as far too often I get matched against a lot of players who've just started the game, and don't know how to play yet. Winning is nice, but its sour when you win with 18+ KOs VS people learning to play.

If unfair matchmaking in Ranked kills the fun for me, I don't want to make new players feel that same frustration even if its unranked

Also, thanks for moving this...I assumed it was more a Salt Pit kind of post tbh but if you see it otherwise Ill take it

The problem honestly is that you should calculate elo like this:

Lets say you are 1500 (current elo) that means that you will get people who are on loss streak but they are around 1650 or you will get people who are on winstreak but their actual elo is around 1350

I was 1650 elo at my best so therefor i am automatically assuming i will get people who are 1800 but on loss streak
