Using W as jump key
I've been using spacebar as my jump key but I notice that when I use W I am able to hit more combos. I read online though that spacebar is better to jump with. With spacebar I am unable to hit Slight Nair with lance but with W I can. I tried clicking spacebar the same time I attack but I'll usually do the wrong move or still not do the move in time.

Should I switch to W as my jump key?

Also I can't get the combo Slight Dlight with lance to be true, is it still a true combo?

just check the setting: prioritize neutral over side, that will affect some things

overall do what works best for you, its all preference

I have that set already

and alright, I just don't want to get a high ELO and have to switch later on.

yeah that's one of the legends I use, I got it down with W as jump. I might go to arrow keys for heavy and light attacks instead of mouse

I use my spacebar as dodge

Slight > Dlight is not a combo at all, so I assume you mean Slight > Dair – it's true on ANY lance character, even on 2 dexterity Ulgrim.

As for the spacebar vs W key part, it might be either an imput delay on your spacebar key or you're just more used to the W key. The reason people recommend to set the jump on the spacebar is because you need the separate Up button (NOT the Jump+Up) for throws and much easier time of executing neutral attacks (nlight, nair, nsig).

That's a bad idea. If "aiming up" and "jump" is on the same button this can lead to a lot of accidents.

But you don't aim up in Brawlhalla.

There's just neutral, not upair or upsig etc

Slight Nair, I mean Slight Dair works too. I also think it is an input delay on my space bar because I'm more use to spacebar.

That's literally what I'm saying. Well, I probably should have phrased that differently.

Slight > Nair is much easier to execute than Slight > Dair, so, yeah, it might be an input delay.

you shouldn't use w as the jump key. if you use a and d to move, then w is the best key for aim up, but you can't use it for aim up if it's your jump key. aim up is a very important input, because with it you can dodge up and pivot nlight/nair/nsig, or gravity cancel an nlight/nsig in the opposite direction that you were facing. if you're having trouble doing combos with the spacebar as your jump key, it's just a matter of practicing the combo until you get it down. there's a lot of precise timing required when doing combos, and it's not learned overnight. if you use mouse and keyboard, a and d to move, and w to aim up with space being jump should be perfectly fine. however, it might be worth trying to use pure keyboard as well, and seeing if that works better for you. personally, I use l to jump, k to light attack, j for sigs, and i to pickup/throw (another thing to mention btw is that having light attack to pickup is also a bad idea, because it screws up combos and can force you to pick up a weapon when a quick unarmed attack might be the better choice) with wasd to move/aim. this is my personal control setup, but it's great for quick movements and timing, possibly because jump and attack are both controlled by one hand? idk, but anyway just find a control setup that works well for you, but if you want to ever really git gud, do NOT: use w to jump, have the "prioritize neutral over side" disabled, or use light attack to pickup.
