Need help with controller support

I've bought a cheap USB SNES controller, but its button mapping seems to be incompatible with the game. The d-pad and the shoulder buttons work, but the A, B, X and Y buttons don't. The game recognises the start button as B and select as Y. Since the X button is not recognised, in the controls menu I can't press it to reach the remap screen. Without it, I can't experiment with mapping the buttons, which would most likely solve the issue.

I tried sending an e-mail to [e-mail], but the recent patch didn't seem to fix my issue. Another way to press the "change controls" button would be amazing (e.g. clicking on it) Or just another way of changing controls, via a config file or something.

I understand that implementing new features to the game takes time, I just wanted to have some kind of feedback from somebody on this topic to see if others also struggle with generic controllers and/or custom ways to play the game.

You can do exactly that.
I assume by the fact you say usb controller that you are using a pc.
Click on the change controls then use the controller to map it.

It doesn't work for some reason, I have an xbox 360 controller, it works perfectly, but still, I can't click the change controls button. I can press Y on the gamepad and it will take me there, but it doesn't work with the mouse.

it most likely isn't compatible since it's a generic controller

try using x360ce to remap inputs
