how to counter scythe

i though that gauntlets and axe were cancer but boy scythe is even worse so if axe doesnt has a counter does scythe has ?

Scythe is not the worst nor the easiest weapon. Its strength is positional pressure, which means you allow yourself to be pressured. This is easy to avoid by not being so passive or always dodging but instead attacking through GCs and weapon throws. If you then still struggle with scythe, main the cancer for a while, till its tricks become memory. Worse weapons exist, like Blasters and Bow, or Passive hammer. Scythe mains only trust watching your reads, which is why GCs are important, as they throw off your opponent reading you. If none of this works, then find some scythe master to train with. I hate scythe with a passion, but I chose to understand it so I can hate it and destroy those who use it. This weapon has a high skill cap, because of the fact that people under and over estimate it, use common dodge patterns and don’t GC attack to balance the fight. Then, passive play is very easy for scythe to catch, so I recommend approaching instead of baiting, as scythes broken recovery frames limit your chances of punish.

space out the scythe. make sure you're not in a position where they can hit you with any attack. when approaching, make sure to mix up your approach options to confuse them and keep them guessing. when you eventually do get hit, don't just mix up dodge directions, but also timing. most scythe players will attempt to read your dodge after the first hit, but what they likely won't expect is for you to dodge in the middle of a string instead of after the first hit. don't go overboard and dodge at the very end, obviously, but also don't always dodge at the beginning. mixing up timing and directions keeps the scythe user guessing what you're going to do, and makes the scythe much less consistent.

ooof why there gotta be such a long messages. all you have to do to fight scythe. Is play couple of scythe games, always dodge differently, space out with weapon throws. if you want to really learn to counter scythe, it's more advanced than "mix up dodges spacing etc" (yeah it's BASICALLY that but there's more depth to it)

The reason people have alot of trouble with scythe is because they generally attack from above and to the left or right (a blind spot for most weapons). A good counter is jump and gc, or floating around in the air with jumps to stop them from obtaining that position.

its weapon dependent, if its not gonna hit, don't do it, if its gonna hit and leaves enough stun for a combo, then do it.

because the scythe cannot cover directly above itself, so a gc attack that can cover grounded opponents can work against the scythe, such as unarmed gc dlight, which leads to a ground pound which is 30 damage.

Also GC>NLight unarmed works 99% of the time.
