Gravity cancel and reaction time too short???
The window of time you have to pull of more moves after gravity cancel together with network-lag makes is next to impossible to use, this feature is more of a curiosity done once every week. If you gave us perhaps halve a second more this would be much more fun. Because more people could actually be able to do it. As it stand right now, I can not even let go of the block button before I click the other ones to do some moves in the air. Example down-air/side-air is not possible to use in any reproducible manner. I feel it makes all this cool moves more or less useless. This can also be seen in live combat everywhere. On a arcade/fight stick it is impossible to do these combos because the movement time of the stick and especially the buttons physical mechanical movement time is more than a gamepad. Please don't make this thread to pad vs stick discussion.

Brawlhalla uses client side prediction which means your actions are executed without delay. Even if you got input delay due to a high average ping this would not affect your timing for a gravity cancel.

The whole duration of the dodge you want to use for the gravity cancel is less than half a second. Giving you half a second more would mean you'd be long past the dodge you want to cancel.

Is this what causes you to sig, intead of recovering when you run off of a ledge on a poor connection?

Input delay would not cause you to sig instead of recovering when running off the ledge, quite the opposite actually. Input delay can cause you to recover when you actually wanted to slide charge a sig off the ledge.

I uh... hate to say it, but...

Sounds like you just need more practice.

imo (it's pretty objective) Brawlhalla's inputs are too fast to use optimally on either a stick or a pad. If you want the fastest inputs, go keyboard or keyboard and mouse. Even a so-so keyboard is better than most controllers for this particular game.

I played at least the first 800 hours on a controller. Used two different kinds and one was only slighty better than the other, and both where inferior to the handling reliability of keyboard. You'll have to put in some effort to learn, but it is worth it.

To build onto that resolve any issues you have client side first. Such as connection or fps issues (Like the nvidea fix)

Onto keyboards; membrane and other low end keyboards can get flooded. This can cause you to move and act in weird or unwanted ways. Look for keyboards with wasd on seperate circuits or invest in a mechanical if you want to avoid this.

That said I love mah mushy keybords! I enjoy my membrane, it's easy on my delicate and dainty fingers.

If you need to have special equipment to play, then I do think, that, the game timing is nearing the edge of what humans can do. If you need a special mechanical keyboard with special low latency drivers and perhaps a low latency monitor to play. And a direct dedicated fiber cable to the brawlhalla servers, then I don't know what the aim of the game developers are???
Fastest button clicking in the world? Extreme button clicking contest???
The speed of this game is already 10x Street Fighter 2 arcade...

You don't need any of those, just one thing: to gid gud.
Stop looking for flaws everywhere else (game, PC) other than yourself and you'll get much further in life (including this game).

The game has its own flaws which is how all online games are.

If you want actual skill, I suggest you find something that won't be depended on connection.
