Honestly, skins in this game are overpriced, but I'd say if you've got maybe 2 characters you really like / main, then buy them each a skin and maybe a KO-effect. Podiums are also pretty swank and give you a little more edge in the "Oh ♥♥♥♥ they're legit invested in this game" pre-game-mind-game.
Honestly, skins are a sign that you're in for the long haul due to it being overpriced. It's a sign of "I'ma play the ♥♥♥♥♥ outta this game and I wana look better than default doing it."
You also have to admit that with colors being free, you can get quite a bit of milage out of a single skin since it's not locked to default colors.
Again, I know that it has sadly become the norm, but... it still sucks a lot!
It's just a matter of prospective. Giving out things for free would mean that there's no real monitary income for the company. Now personally I'd love to see these developers get smashed in the face with a sledgehammer sometimes due to their stupid GAMEPLAY based practices...but when it comes to the skins, I'd say that it's not that bad. There's much worse options out there (IE: Any phone game ever)
This problem is not exclusive of Brawlhalla, but is still a problem and something that deserves attention.
And 6 bucks for an skin, a single skin, is an absurd amount of money, you can buy entire bundles of games with that!
What you really want is the colors!
I wanted to give money to the game, because I kind of like it, but the prices weren't reasonable, putting me in a situation in which whatever option I choose will lead to spend more money than I want.
So I decide exercise my consumer right to complain and shared the whole thing, because I like to read the opinions of other people.
1 if you don't want lootboxes, don't buy them
2 if you don't want to pay for overpriced skins don't buy them
3 make and update a free to play weekly with a development team
it's a free to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play game, you literally can't complain about microtransactions in a game that you're able to play for FREE
I dont mind giving some money to the game because I really love it, it is one of my favorite games so I am okay supporting them. I agree skins are overpriced but at least they go on sale and give you the option to get mammoth coins via DLC packs so I think that is a nice thing for them to do.
