How hard is it to get to platinum?

I always get close to it but then the matchmaking system decides I'll face scythes, swords, spears and all that...
It seems the game does not wants me to reach plat, I can never get past rank 1625.
Is it mandatory to use cancerous legends?

I think cancerous has lost all meaning. No-one uses it, especially if there's no reason to due to the games actually pretty balanced legends. Compared to any other fighter there aren't any real overpowered characters. What exactly makes a legend "cancerous"? Because they are used the most...? Anyone could be skiller with any legend. To give that title to certain things in games is pointless.

The cancerous legends, probably used more, because its a firsts and famous legends.

The only legend it should be difficult to get to plat with is barazza and now that bow got it's nerf diana will be a little difficult too.

Everyone else reaching plat should be relatively simple once you've reached 150 - 200 hours.
