Rage quitting is worse. You won't get experience or gold from your match, and you're teaching yourslf to accept failure. The intention to win should be maintained until the end. It strengthens the will of the player.

You should never rage quit as it reduces confidence . Sometimes you can find a way to turn around the match so it's a full on detriment to leave.

i lose my confidence when i don't rage quit and increase it when i rage quit XD
i lose confidence if a game is not fun (why bother playing it if it's annoying or boring or ...) ,and when i rage quit it's not cuz im losing ,but cuz it's not fun

when i lost a match at 1722 i lost like 15-20 elo (i don't exactly remember the amount) and i was still in plat, then i made it back up to 1722 but was one bar lagging so i "rage quitted" cause there was no way i was gonna fight that match, when i back back into ranked i had deranked back down to gold and was in the 1670's

ELO gain and loss is determined by your opponent's ELO in comparison to yours: defeating an opponent with a much higher ELO will raise your rank significantly, while defeating an opponent with a much lower ELO will raise your rank just by a tiny bit.
it works similarly when u lose elo

maybe u was lagging so much that u didn't realize that your opponent elo was pretty low ,do u know the rank of that player ?

How much you win/lose depends on the difference between your elo and that of your opponent. I have to question your memory regarding your derank since the highest elo win/loss you can ever have is 32. The elo system works on the basis of equal trades, so any elo one player loses gets awarded to the winner. Noone ever got more than 32 elo from a win.

You should ALWAYS ragequit if you feel that's the right thing to do. Because not reaquiting harms your mental health. Remember it's just a game, it's not worth your sanity!

I only leave a match if I'm lagging, because then it isn't fair. And who wants an easy game? Games should be even and well played. If one person is lagging, it becomes unfair to both people. I haven't seen any elo loss when I disconnect, so really, I guess it's fine. And as for confidence, well, I'm confident all over life so don't really know how to help there. Just try to have fun :)
