How to make PS4 controller work without DS4Windows
I use a ps4 controller connected via usb to play Brawlhalla, and DS4 stopped working, Brawlhalla won't recognize the controller on it's own and I have no idea what to do.

I honestly wouldn't even recommend using a controller. Using keyboard is so much better. There's less input delay and it doesn't take that long to learn. If you really don't want to switch though, download InputMapper. It's what I used when I played with controller.

Windows itself won't recognize the controller, it isn't DS4, I only just found this out.
And I've always played games like this with a controller, it comes natural to me, I've resorted to using the controller via bluetooth and am ordering an xbox one controller that should work out of the box.

Your PS4 controller isn't working? Mine worked no problem. Anyways, it might be a problem with the driver. Has the controller worked before on your pc?

it was working for about a year before it happened, i checked the driver. I'm using it with bluetooth now, works fine.

I don't use Bluetooth with it. Have you tried plugging it in with a USB cable?

Not all computers can use bluetooth.
You might need a bluetooth dongle.

That said, if its not recognizing it, it may be a driver issue. Win10 is notorious for uninstalling drivers.

i use ps3/4 wirelessly on windows 10

google : ScpToolkit

this works for me using a $1.97 bluetooth 2.1 dongle i got off ebay a while ago.. if it stops working wirelessly because windows overrides it, just rerun the scptoolkit driver installer and it will fix itself in under 5 seconds by erenabling the service...

your welcome.

:)

p.s. playstation kiks xbox azz

I prefer the xbox controller, fits my bigger hands better. I already have a bluetooth dongle and am using my PS4 controller with it until the xbox controller comes.

the game has Native support for Ds4 so dont use Ds4windows or else they will conflict with eachother. I use steams built in ps4 drivers via big picture mode.

The dongle is fine, I just don't like using bluetooth that much so I'm gonna buy a windows 10 compatible controller.

You are on windows 10 then?
It's probably a driver issue. Windows 10 is notorious asf for reverting drivers

Which means...you gotta reinstall the driver every time you want to use it.*

It'd explain why windows isn't recognizing it!
