Generally, the original is more immersive (and perhaps paranoia inducing) than WME because it uses your actual PC instead of what is essentially a VM.
In terms of differences, one notable difference that comes almost immediately is that WME uses your Steam profile name, while the original uses your PC's account name (which will likely be your real name). So, if you're a streamer and don't want your viewers to know your real name, WME is preferable over the original.
