Update to version 1.4 and new DLC: Smugglers Guild

Later today the update and the new DLC should become available from my website, GOG.com (at about 1200 European time) and Steam (at about 2100 European time).

SMUGGLERS 5 - UPDATE V. 1.4:

Smugglers 5 1.4:
- New DLC: Smugglers 5 DLC: "The Smuggler´s Guild". This DLC is a compilation of background stories and is named after the first of the three stories. Upon installation the player can choose to play one of three short but dynamic and multiple-pathed background stories, which will lead the player through the game.
- Balance change: You can now trade with pirate hideouts in systems owned by another faction with which your faction is at war
- Balance change: Special event skills (like "Security" when your ship´s computer is infected with a virus) now only require 1 AP to be used. This has a big effect on the combat special events and makes combat in these cases going a lot smoother.
- Bug fixed: The description of the advanced target system has been corrected.
- Bug fixed: Fixes a loop in the planet exploration stories that could happen if you tried to exit the game.
- Bug fixed: Combat Transport missions are now only available if their destination is your own faction (you cannot transport goods to enemy factions)
- Bug fixed: Typos :)
- Bug fixed (Only Invasion expansion relevant): The Hrranghi and Firaxar ship stats were switched around by mistake. This has been fixed now.
- Bug fixed (Only Invasion expansion relevant): The Medal of Honor picture was missing.

DLC: SMUGGLERS GUILD:

This DLC is a compilation of background stories for the indie game "Smugglers 5: Secession" and is named after the first of the three stories. Upon installation, the player can choose to play one of three short but dynamic and multiple-pathed background stories, which will lead the player through the game.

The first story, "The Smugglers Guild", starts with the retirement of your trader father through ill health. There's no money in being an honest trader these days. Smuggling contraband is a risky business, but the rewards are great - especially for those lucky or connected enough to join the exclusive Smugglers Guild. "The Smugglers Guild" is playable with "Smugglers 5: Secession" and "Smugglers 5: Invasion".

In the second story, "Solomon´s Treasure", your father dedicated his life to finding the hidden treasure of Solomon McTavish, legendary pirate, and died without success. Perhaps you can do better - but you are not the only one seeking this vast fortune.

The final story, "Thirst For Vengeance", recalls the pirate raiders that killed your parents and kidnapped your sister when you were a child. As a graduate of the space academy with a ship of your own, the time has finally come to seek your revenge.

To play these stories, the individual story file must be installed to the game directory. This is done automatically after purchase on Steam, GOG or by completing the downloaded installation program. Upon starting a new game, you can choose to play a game in the classic sandbox mode without a story or with one of the stories you have bought.

PREORDERS: This is just the FIRST OF TWO (!) volumes of stories, originally called "Smugglers 5 Invasion DLC: Background stories", available for pre-order as a single package in the last few months. While this pre-order bundle has been discontinued, those who purchased it will receive the first and second volume by download link and Steam code as they become available.

WARNING: On Steam and GOG this DLC is only for sale for Smugglers 5: Secession. It is compatible to Smugglers 5: Invasion as well, but because Invasion is a different product, the file systems of Steam and GOG might not be able to do so automatically (when Invasion is released on these platforms). Alternatively, the story file (ending .sbr) can be manually copied to the game folder, which may be necessary if you purchased the game on Steam or GOG and wish to switch between playing Smugglers 5: Invasion and Smugglers 5: Secession. The DLC directly available from my website has an installer that can be used to copy the files directly to the game folders.

does Smug V suck any less than Smug III and IV did? I'd buy it if it was $2.99 but so far if this is anything like the 2 prior versions its not worth the current sale price.

Awesome game all around! Although, I am unable to take screenshots. I've tried changing keys, restarting, testing other games, etc. I hope you can please fix this in the future! Thanks
