levelling up and talent progression

I've been playing for a couple of hours and my characters have gained some levels however I cannot see a way to choose which talents to improve. At this stage I'm starting to think I will get the option to enhance my stats/talents once I leave the first dungeon. Is this the case or am I missing something?

Is this game based on any tabletop RPG system? It reminds me of Savage Worlds...

Also is there any way to get spirit points back except by using potions?

It's a great game and I am really enjoying it!

@markakeen -

1) you can only spend the advantage points you gain by leveling when you reach a safe waystation or inn. You can't train on the road.

2) The dicing system is roughly based on a pen & paper RPG created by the Trese Brothers, but adapted for the talent's system and digital gameplay.

3) If you reach a campsite (not safe for leveling), a waystation (safe for leveling) or an inn then you will recover all of your HP / SP.

In the Dungeons of Red Hill, you've got Lazzon's forces breathing down your neck, and there is no time to rest!

Andrew, Cory -- I have just made it out of Dungeon Hill, and am now in the first rest area heading toward the Krellin Deeps. All of the characters in the party have levelled from 3 to 4, but I still do not see any obvious way of initiating skill or attribute increases, let alone talent increases. Am I doing something wrong here ?

Are you at a waystation or inn? Not every level grants all bonuses but you always get at least one Attribute, Talent or Skill pt

I am pretty sure that it is a waystation as a helpful reminder showed telling me that it was safe now to level up, in the same box as the character text.

Ok, sounds like a place you can level. If you have any points left, spend em! Otherwise, time to keep moving.

I am in the Forgotten Way Station, each of my character's stat screens says "Ready to level: +1 to attributes, +1 to skills" ... but there is no apparent way to actually level each character ... ???

Click on the Skills, Attribute or Talent buttons. If that doesn't help, please post a screenshot

Right -- that is the status screen. You indeed have points to spend next time you get to a waystation or an inn. So, go to one of those and then click the button to Train.

Ok, but please post a screenshot of the screen where you think there is a problem. The status screen is great but isn't the screen where you will see the button.

Can I send you my save ? I think there is an issue here. I do not see the Train button active on any screen even though all characters status are ready to level up and are at a waystation.

I don't think sending in a game will help as I cannot reproduce it here with 3 attempts now on new games.
