Mitigate stutter by Updating DirectStorage and D3D12Core DLL Files
You can use this mod on nexus to update the Direct3D.DirectStorage.dll and D3D12Core.dll files to help with stuttering and possibly other asset streaming or crashing issues as well.

WARNING: The newer D3D12Core.dll might only work on Win 11 24H2!

https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy7rebirth/mods/70

Nexus page was deleted/removed

For future reference, the files were just grabbed from here:

Latest D3D12Core:
https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.Direct3D.D3D12/1.615.0
Or latest Preview version: https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.Direct3D.D3D12/1.716.0-preview

Latest Direct Storage: https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.Direct3D.DirectStorage/1.2.3

You can download the files by clicking on "Download package" on the right side of the pages. Once the compressed package files are downloaded use something like 7zip or NanaZip to extract to your location of choice.

In the extracted Direct Storage files, the dlls will be in "\native\bin\x64"

Copy the new dstorage.dll and dstoragecore.dll to
"SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\End\Binaries\Win64"
where ff7rebirth_.exe resides. Replace when prompted.

In the extracted D3D12Core files, the dll needed is in "\build\native\bin\x64"

Copy the new D3D12Core.dll to
"SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\End\Binaries\Win64\D3D12"
and, although may not be necessary, to
"SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Windows\DirectX\x64"
Replace when prompted.

Bonus Section
To reduce pop-in, increase distance detail and push shadows/fog quality a bit further than vanilla as well, I recommend this mod greatly: https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy7rebirth/mods/38

As of version 1.8.2 I was getting a little bit of shadow flicker with the mod. To fix it download and install FFVIIHook - INI and dev console unlocker [www.nexusmods.com] and in the Engine.ini add this line under [ConsoleVariables]:

r.Shadow.WholeSceneShadowCacheMb=300

This seemed to fix shadow flicker for me completely. But limited testing.

I've updated the DirectStorage and D3D12Core DLL files along with the DLSS4 plugin and also made some .ini Engine tweaks to reduce stuttering, but I still find the game to be a stuttering mess honestly. It's not quite Stalker 2 level bad but it's not far off either, especially when going into a town. I'm also using Lossless scaling to generate more frames and I have a 4070 Ti Super so there is really no excuse for this poor performance.
.. lOl another nexus mod ❝FIX❝ 🤭 ..

Have dealt whit many so called nexus mods "fixes" to .. wel .. ❝fix❝ games MUCH MUUUCH wurse than this .. Mommy knows better !!!

The excuse is called Square Enix who are stuck in their console world and have no idea how to make a proper PC port.

except the dll fix works for most people because the direct storage dlls in the game are bad. This only works if your system uses direct storage though

Where the files were obtained: https://www.nuget.org/profiles/direct3d

It also comes with the newest DLSS DLL by default that supports the newer DLSS4 transformer model. You can simply not use it if not wanted.

Many people are commenting that’s it’s made a big improvement. I’ve tried it myself with limited testing and did seem to see an improvement.
the new d312core dll worked for me on windows 10

it is a confirmed fix for the stuttering.
Is this one of the few or only examples of Sony's claim about the PS5 SSD speed being necessary being true?

There you have it ... you don't even need an SSD... A 5.25 inch floppy disk is all you need 🤣😂

80% of people who replace the dll's find that it literally goes from stuttering every few seconds, to zero stutters. It doesnt fix it for everyone, but it does work for the majority with the issue.

must suck to be so low iq.

NVME is not the only SSD.

It seems to work for some and not for others. Unfortunately didn’t fix my stutters. Still massive frame time spikes when panning the camera. DirectStorage is definitely not working as intended
