There are far to many mini games.
Costa Del Sol and Golden saucer are so close together I dont even want to play through it. Queens blood being forced so you interact with a new character that I honestly could not care less about. Wish you could skip it,

This game is filled to the brim with time wasting filler designed to pad out the game length

Ubisoft inspired garbage

Maybe it's just me, but FFVII was released around the time of my childhood.

& we used to love that ♥♥♥♥. The silly distractions along the way that brought a relaxing change of pace after grinding for levels for hours.

OG FF7 had quite a lot of minigames itself if you forgot by a chance.

There is a lot of content padding tho which in OG one was just random encounters.
Some of that content padding feels very silly, but looking for special monsters to kill them for rewards is a nice thing.
I have to agree.

It's not just the mini games it just pointless prompts like with the Life Stream and analyse things for the summons in the caves.

Don't get me started on Queen's Blood. After doing the prologue and finally able to explore Kalm, do you think the very first thing I want is a tutorial on a damn card game?
Alot of the mini games are fun but yes Queens blood could be erased and I wouldnt be in the least unhappy about that. Also that Chadley kid who is always interrupting

As far as I remember QB is not mandatory, on the trip from Costa del Sol to the Golden Saucer you can skip the entire tournament if you talk to an NPC who is right next to the desk

There are a crapton of them I agree. I recommend just skipping them if you dont like them. You can skip the queens blood tournament, every match of them.
only a few minigames are mandatory and the rest is all optional content, and the % of it in all the optional content is pretty small since there is so much side stuff to do. the original game had a lot of minigames too, ff fans have been asking for more of them like the old games had for like a decade now and they finally delivered

Thank god there's stuff to do in this game. If you miss walking long corridors filled with nothing just play FF16

Yes the original had them paced out, in rebirth they went all in on mini games and crammed them all way to close together many of which are required to move the story forward. The world map stuff that somehow made it into the conversation in this thread is as far as I am now entirely optional and nets your some Materia or lore and such, that doesn't bother me as I can choose not to do it.

there are only a few in the main story, even the card event on the boat can be skipped
