Nuclear Nightmare

Single player?
I’ve watched John Carpenter’s The Thing around 70 times.

It’ll forever be my number 1 horror movie in the history of mankind.

I don’t have friends who are active and I don’t care to play with randoms.

Can you play this solo or with bots?

You can play solo. No bots though.
It is not that bad if you play on easy, maybe play with no timer as well since you will have to do a lot by yourself.

Are there like bots or something as humans accompanying you?

I don't actually know what it plays like, so I assumed there would be human teammates that might turn on you at any moment.

No bots as humans, the only AI that can accompany you as of now it's huskies which you can tame and command.

That's interesting.
I'll install and give it a go soon.

I would also like bots, especially if the dog commands are in game already, and the human models exist..it doesnt seem in theory very hard to combine the two by changing the dog model to people. I dont know about programming them to shoot etc, (which is necessary) But I would love to be able to leave them in key locations to protect areas and then come back and not know if they are infected or not etc...It would really add alot to gameplay for those who want to play that way.

You can definitely solo it though it'll be more challenging. You can always disable some settings before making a friends-only lobby. Try aiming for the minimum objectives before evacuation first and see how you do. Getting vaccines and weapons as soon as you can (slaughterhouse is good for this), aim to go to a base camp with shelter before night hits and stay still, unless youre confident in your shooting abilities. Infection seems to be the number one killer of my solo runs, so play it safe if you dont have other players to continue the run without you. Good luck.

I would like more support on single player gaming. For example I'd suggest that Esc will pause the game.
I have played this game almost exclusively solo and honestly I find it easier to play by myself than with teammates due to being able to horde/find a couple vaccines. You can consistently solo up to Hard fairly easy but I suggest doing a lot of runs on Normal to learn the map, item spawn locations, and learn the enemies sound cues when they are close! Learn how to do each objective too which honestly might be a bit frustrating at first. You will fairly often find snowmobiles at the start too as opposed to everyone running off with them, and you don't have to worry about trolls teamkilling or blowing you up with mines as your disarming.

It will take quite a few deaths to learn the ropes so its not the easiest thing in the world. I tend to do item gathering during the day and travelling at night, doing just the bare minimum while doing the classified stuff and collecting perks from pop machines at night/your happy with your loadout. Game also gets significantly easier with perks unlocked later. The main thing is surviving your xp gain is like x10 compared to if you die so while learning just do the minimum 4 or so and get out. Heck you can cheese it by putting the day length to long and there was a few times I did a run without enemies even spawning cause it would just turn night as I left. Before you know it you will be a survival machine doing 10/10 across the map with not much worries. (I like to play on normal daylight time I just mean if you wanted to cheese it this is an option)

I know you can prob solo nightmare as well but considering its a 1 hit kill and enemies spawn during days its not really worth the time for the xp gain and headaches it brings unless you want push yourself. Hard and normal you can take a hit or 2 minus the doggo's that change or if you .. get infected.

Don't get scared to play this game solo honestly its actually fairly easy to do once you get used to it.

oh that other post is right I keep the nuke timer on normal it gives enough time to do everything with that across the map (assuming you kind of know the pathing) Also here's a couple a ha moment tips that I think really helped me learn to survive.

Enemies prioritise shutting off gens at night assuming they don't have line of sight on you. Night time going into silo, turn on gen you won't have to worry until the gen is turned off ect. basically when the gen is on and I'm not around it I honestly have no worries or cares in the world I just am in collect item mode Just be weary when doing gens at night because like I said that's where the enemies will be pathing.

My other a ha moment was FIGHT OUTSIDE no seriously when possible go outside when that generator goes down that way you can back peddle the only time I am weary about doing this is if the generator goes down and the room I'm in is right next to it. Then its more likely that the thing is about to bust down your door as you leave, get back and just do the best you can but if you have time get outside boot the door down and fight outside.

Combine these 2 tips together, its night time turn gen on, use your ears to hear if enemies are close as you turn it on, go to do mission/get pop machine. gen goes down you know where the creature is because you know where the generator is, bust outside like the kool-aid man Run AWAY from the gen so the creature has to do a long line toward you, face the correct direction and shoot it. (or drive off if your done there)

Please dont recommend garbage, they put zero effort into it.

An explosive barrel is enough to give an unreal engine error and they added absolutely nothing.

Bosses are still extremely silent without even any music that it feels like the game isn't even done lol.

Even as a fan of The Thing myself, finishing the original on modern hardware was fine enough for once but that remaster adds zero.
