Why such a failure?

Why was this game such a massive failure? 1 friend on my list owns it, 2 want it. Yet, I constantly see announcements and events like this games poppin' hot. Who's actually playing this game?

Most importantly, why did it fail so much. I don't want to know why you people like it. I want to know why nobody does.

I have been wondering myself. I was incredible excited for this game to come out. I think the problems were bad optimization, lack of maps, no replays, very bad faction balance which they took a very long time to put right and arguably it is still bad. I am a member of the UK steam group all 33 players have not played in last 2 weeks. Even the group admin doesn't play or post in it.

I myself played a lot after release then grew frustrated with slow down. If you were eliminated in a 4v4 match there was no in game way to exit the game. You'd just sit watching rest of the game. I think I will jump back in now they have more maps. It does sadden me it didn't do better.

The screenshots and video's looked awesome. Yet nobody owns it or plays it. There has to be something drastically wrong with the game. Oh, maybe the PRICE doesn't match what you're getting.

Or clasical RTS are dead? I mean outside Starcraft 2 there is Total War series which combine RTS batles and turn based campaigne, but that is all I can think in terms of recent sucesfull RTS titles.

Glad i am not the only one thinking this. i want to game but dont want to fall into the never seems to get out of beta like PA did. then fades away

It's a good game, a good RTS. Although it offers nothing new at all. I bought it and played it hoping that it would break from the formula, but it didn't at all. Still a good RTS game though, but why get this when StarCraft 2 exists?

I don't own Grey Goo but from the reviews and let's plays I've watched it just feels very uninteresting. The old Universe at War (made by the same devs) had totally asymmetrical factions with vastly different play styles (even resource collection worked differently) each with a distinct character, charm and visual style. Compared to UaW GG just feels so bland.

UaW got screwed by the gfwl bs but if Petro could bring it back via a remake or sequel I bet it'd do a lot better. But I guess SEGA owns the rights to it, I dunno.

I'm with you on this one. $15.00 would be about as high as I would go. It's getting pretty old watching mediocre games selling for $50-$60. A games price should be based on it's rating and reviews by 1000's of people.

I can vouch that performance and lag in multiplayer has improoved.

I liked the look the videos are amazing but gameplay sucks. I'm sorry but it just didn't grab me and after playing for a few hours I turned it off with no interest in going back. I don't like the way resources are done, I don't like the way the game feels like your rushing and a turtle (like myself) just gets screwed, I don't like how crouded everything feels. I just didn't like how this one panned out at all. To be fair I only play single player (campaign and skirmish) in these types of games as I have no interest in playing against other players so perhaps multiplayer is different but I'll never find out.

Thanks. This is what I was looking for. Why people don't like it. Nothing worse than being stoned as ♥♥♥♥ and having to rush in everything you do like you're smoking crack. There's a reason I smoke weed.
