Grey Goo

Game Hangs On Startup
I bought Grey Goo, but the game will not launch properly....it hangs on the load-screen and goes nowhere, and I have to use Task Manager to get it to stop. From what I can see, I am not the only one experiencing this problem. Does anyone have a workaround or solution?

One "solution" I've found is to simply wait a couple minutes or so. You can also try opening Task Manager, because sometimes that makes the game launch for some strange reason.

Yeah, I am thinking about refunding the game because of this issue. The game also crashes sometimes... Not worth the money. Sending it back till they fix it.

Actually, I am just sending in a refund request. When you guys get it working, I might repurchase it.

Hey man,

If you had been playing for a while with no issues, and if you've played any multiplayer or viewed any replays, try deleting the replays in Documents/Petroglyph/Goo directory. I was having a similar issue and doing this fixed it - but the difference is that my game had been working for a while already when this popped up.

If your game never worked to begin with this probably isn't the problem. Sorry and good luck.

Having the same issue I just submitted a ticket. I really hope this gets fixed. I don't want to get a refund, and I'm in desperate need of some RTS.. Hopefully they can find a resolution.

Not sure what is these days with all these games. It's like it's a rarity to find something that works right away from the get go.

Appreciate any help you can give.. I got 14 days to try and get this to work, else I'll have to get a refund. I just can't keep giving money away.

I'm already pretty much an hour and a half into just trying to fix the game... Everytime that I sit with that spash screen up for a few minutes, it takes from the time I have to get a refund. At this point, I am waiting about a week and if they can't fix it, it is getting refunded.

STOPChris needs to do what his name says and STOP, the CS people told him what they can do to assist in helping and he doesn't wish to do it. He is part of the Instant Gratification generation. If things don't work RIGHT NOW, they want compensation. They don't want to try to fix things or work through problems they just want to walk away and blame it on someone else. There could be a number of reason why it wont run or stay running, ranging anywhere from where it was installed by default to a bad sector on the HD to a bad location in Memory or Video Memory that this game could be trying to write to that is causing the problem. Then again it could have something to do with how your (and others) individual system is set up that is actually causing software conflicts. However you and others would rather jump down developers throughts instead of rationally trying to work through fixes until everything is either done or the problem is resolved. You and people like you are the reason I got out of the programming industry altogether.

Just shut up already. If a product doesn't work, you return it. This is why brick and mortar companies have return policies.

So I guess I'm just going to leave this in here as my 2 cents.

I have the "hang" issue, but turned out, if you actually leave your computer be, the game will eventually load. Now I understand some might consider this as a broken product and would demand a refund. I guess in my case, I am willing to tolerate it. The same way I had to tolerate Bloodborne on the PS4. I am just hoping that with the information that you provide to them, "DXDIAG, MSINFO, etc." That will help them determine patterns and hopefully, issue fixes for problems you and I are having.

Next time you run it, just leave it running for about 5 minutes. See if it will eventually start. Worth a shot. Worked for me.

I know I'm late to the party my game does the same thing too I believe that it could just be that I have too many programs running and the computer is bottlenecking maybe the same thing is happening to Chris what you should do before starting any games to close any and all unnecessary programs you have running in the background unless it's something like Nvidia so you can do your streaming or any programs used to stream to Twitch just my two cents

Anyone that's still plays gray goo including Chris if he hadn't returned the game this game does not like having programs running in the background close Chrome and other programs like that one the game should open fast
