Goo fundamentals are:
1) scout and migrate away from start. You want to split a mom as early as you can, but if they open 1 ref 2 factory you may need 1-2 smalls to defend first.
2) try to use hit and run, letting your units get damaged but not die. Then run to let your units heal. Morph before the fight and heal to full before engaging.
3) learn how to use your units. Striders are your bread and butter unit. They have enough hp to hit and run. Against anti armor (revolver, stalker) it helps to make some drover as meat shields for strider. Drover are also good to aoe clumps of units. Often one radiant can help with brush vision. As they tech up, get large proteans (6 armor), bastion, destructor. Start your main upgrade. I prefer destructor bounce, but destructor splash and exploding bastions have their place as well.
3) migrate to a place with two spigots near eachother, and patrol between them to get extra undigested orange catalyst. When you split a mom, leave the new mom there and move the one with undigested catalyst. This assures you are getting the maximum resources.
It's really hard to do this as Goo with a shroud partner though, because moms can't share spigots with shroud extractors. Combine that with the fact that most shroud like to open super greedy, and usually the Goo will just get killed at the start and the shroud will be alone.
