Two questions about Descent of the Shroud and Shroud trailer
Just discovered that one of my favourite games ever got a new update with the misterious 4th faction for free! While I'm reinstalling the game, I have a few questions.

1) "Descent of the Shroud" is described as a DLC. Why does it not appear on the Steam store?

2) Will the Shroud get their own "faction analysis" trailer? Something like:

- Grey Goo - Beta: Guardians of Legacy
- Grey Goo - Humans: Architects if Destiny
- Goo: Agents of Chaos

Those videos were awesome and a great introduction to the units used by each faction. I'd love to watch a Shroud one!

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I had a few questions about the Soundtrack DLC, but now that it's installed, I'm super happy to see it has been greatly expanded and that it now includes the Shroud soundtrack. Love you devs/publishers! =D

yeah, i'm wondering too, is everything already installed with grey goo and the emergency campaign?
Is the "Descent of the Shroud" 16th Mission in?
Or do i have to do anything (or do i have to buy the dlc or whatever)?

It would appear the descent of the shroud is mission 16, which was not originally present in the game

That's correct Kilopede, it is a "mini-campaign" for the Shroud.

But it's not a mission where you play the shroud. It's an extension of Goo campaign. Which is fine, don't get me wrong, but it's not exactly a Mini-Campaign for Shroud if it isn't a mission where you play as Shroud :steamfacepalm:

Super mini :). You are correct, it is really a prelude mission that introduces you to the Shroud.

Thank you for your answers! Just wanted to ask: are there plans to upload a "faction analysis trailer" like the ones all other factions have? I'm talking about the ones which present the units of each faction, like:

- Grey Goo - Beta: Guardians of Legacy
- Grey Goo - Humans: Architects if Destiny
- Goo: Agents of Chaos

That would be cool! I was kind of hoping the community would take charge and see about creating their own community one ;).

We may need more co-ordination to do that. Do we have any concept arts or anything else behind-the-scenes on Shroud's development? Could help. Maybe some of the official assets used for the other faction trailers.

Definitely! There are the social posts on Facebook that have had some great art displayed:

There is a bunch on the official website as well:

And don't forget the videos on YouTube:

Let us know what else you may need and we can help get it from the team!

I take it this was the first bit of Shroud concept art? More shoud concepts and art like this will DEFINITELY be helpful. I'm going to actually come out and say that this already slightly falls in mind partially with some of the idea I may already have in my head.

If possible- dumping concept arts of even more Shroud-Stuff may be of use. Units. Structures. Buildings. Anything you've got that you can give even more expose on would be absolutely useful. Rough sketches, simplistic brainstorming, development ideas. Giving us more visual info gives our minds more time to theorize and wonder- Especially on the note of black and red clouds and crystals- The Shroud look nothing like initially depicted. If that shadowy crystal was the shroud- and that was attacking the goo- they certainly don't quite have such a similar partainment here.

I also partially ask this due to wanting to analyze design process- I'm wanting to learn how to make games myself, so I wouldn't mind fiddling about and seeing how everything falls into place. I'm wanting to make, namely, a very large scale FPSRTS. on par quality with other highly experienced titles. Bits of Overlord's gameplay would also partially be involved with some unit clusters whilst on foot.

Glad you like it S'Arais! Definitely more where that came from. Thanks for the suggestions! I'll see what we can dig up :) [Berek]

There's something that could be cool to show on such video too. From the outside, the Shroud deserve the nickname the Beta gave them, "Silent Ones". Too alien to understand, determined to harvest all energy and eliminate any oppositon.

But, from the inside, playing them, they are cheerful and musical as if they were birds and dolphins. Just an ecosystem trying to survive. I think showing this difference during the trailer would be neat. For example, start with an introduction from the Beta and/or the Goo, followed by a sudden change into the Shroud's point of view.
