Best Broadside on a Barracuda?
Curious! I can afford a MK5 item atm but am conflicted.
Edited to add I can never hack properly, is the hacking spike worth it? I never have enough time!

I can blindtype however I fail the hackings often, kind of weird. In lower sectors I havnt found much use for it. Hidden loot which didnt amount to much really and market prices which can be valuable depending on circumstances.

Lazer broadsides are the best.
[You can target small ships with it]

The hack is not worth it. Get the charger broadside with the mercs.

In a small ship like the barraduca, make sure to grab nice secondaries like the Mines to help kill mission spawned dreadnaughts easier if you find them annoying. (The dumbfires are bad. I got to the point where I'd never miss with them. Mines are just better).

But yeah the mercs sell broadside improvement components, they are pretty sweet.

If you don't use the beam broaside, then the one that increases projectile speed is very nice (and cheap) if you wanted to nail fighters with them. But that particular part does not help the beam broadsides.

Nthing that the hack part isn't worth it. Especially with so few component slots on most ships.

Another great component is the one that boosts your deflector for blocking missiles and explosions. it's about 3 million, but probably the most useful component in the game.

Ok thanks. I got the deflector component. Had to really work for that lol. I am currently using the Neutron beam on broad side. Problem with the Cuda is it has only 4 sockets. I would love to see how a blackgate tears stuff up. I am actually at a point where I can either sit tight and run missions and make money or keep up the nickle and dime upgrades, but I have a itch for a bigger ship. After all half the fun in this game is trying them out with different weapon loadouts.
Yep I guess I will give up on hacking atm.

I like the hacking spike. It works as advertised BUT it does take up a component spot. I keep it as an option but don't have it installed all the time. There a hack that shows you where all the bounties are. I've seen the other 2 mentioned...not sure what else there is?

As for Broadsides on my 'Cuda...likely not the best but I've used the Protons for a long time. I like the extra engagement range and the dual purpose effect. I have the projectile speed component and am working on buying the improved recharge rate component. (Yes I use the aimed/full charged fire as much as I can). Not an endorsement just how I've grown accustomed to fighting. I also keep a pair of Pulse gun turrets on each side too .... for the same long range engagement reason. They are the first thing I hear shooting when I'm going in...long before anyone else starts shooting at me. ;)

I've seen four types that I can recall:

Bounty coordinates.
Updated financial info.
Mining coordinates (make sure to equip the fault tracker when you go to these coords...)
Coordinates of a bunch of discarded cargo containers.
