[You can target small ships with it]
The hack is not worth it. Get the charger broadside with the mercs.
But yeah the mercs sell broadside improvement components, they are pretty sweet.
If you don't use the beam broaside, then the one that increases projectile speed is very nice (and cheap) if you wanted to nail fighters with them. But that particular part does not help the beam broadsides.
Nthing that the hack part isn't worth it. Especially with so few component slots on most ships.
Another great component is the one that boosts your deflector for blocking missiles and explosions. it's about 3 million, but probably the most useful component in the game.
Yep I guess I will give up on hacking atm.
As for Broadsides on my 'Cuda...likely not the best but I've used the Protons for a long time. I like the extra engagement range and the dual purpose effect. I have the projectile speed component and am working on buying the improved recharge rate component. (Yes I use the aimed/full charged fire as much as I can). Not an endorsement just how I've grown accustomed to fighting. I also keep a pair of Pulse gun turrets on each side too .... for the same long range engagement reason. They are the first thing I hear shooting when I'm going in...long before anyone else starts shooting at me. ;)
I've seen four types that I can recall:
Bounty coordinates.
Updated financial info.
Mining coordinates (make sure to equip the fault tracker when you go to these coords...)
Coordinates of a bunch of discarded cargo containers.
