the w/e heat deflector
i just realized there is a thing called heat deflector in the game, and omg this thing is imba. forget about Mk 6 sheilds, this thing transfers all incoming explosive damage e.g missiles and mines into sheild energy. with this thing, my ship pretty much have infinite shield. now i can face 3 dreads at the same time without having to pay anything for repair, because every time when those dreads fire missiles, they help me recharge my sheild, and the higher the damage from explosive, the more this thing recharge. right now this game is no longer challenging for me, and i'm just saving up money to buy my first dread, lol.

For even more heat based fun, use the Heat Management System with beam weapons. The growth in power is quite something to behold, as that 10% seems to grow exponentially until every fighter/frigate/corvette. you come across is taken down in a single blast from a mining laser.

HAHA! Truth...I thought I was a clever weasel myself and got smoked recently. Anyway the game is forginving in that you can just redo it. If it was dead is dead there would be all sorts of squealing.

how can anyone actually get killed if you have all Mk6 equipment on your ship? I have been doing nothing but very high risk missions right now to save money for my first dread, and nothing has killed me yet.

Dear TheMandarin please do a very high risk contraband delivery for Red Devil's Cartel where you will get 3 consecutive circles of death on your way to the station - ~20 fighters / bombers / gunships, 3 dreadnoughts, 4 destroyers / heavy frigates combos (leech missiles and shield busters are the norm) and all that before you even get with 100SM close to the station which is surrounded by minefields + turrets with leech / ion cannons and ~30 Militia crafts with several heavy ships.

I've done it in various ships to test my setups, each requiring a specific strategy to succeed. You will take hull & systems damage, is unnavoidable. But can you kill everything and also deliver the cargo to the station? And if you do, can you say it wasn't challenging?

PS: Running away / abandoning missions doesn't count for not getting killed with MK VI gear. I can play with the starting ship in MK I gear and just hang around a station and say wow the game is so freeeeeeaking easy, look at me, extreme threat systems full of MK VI opponents and they can't touch me! ^_^

Wow, I wish I had of seen missions like that in my previous run through because when I got to the end with Mark VI equipment all missions were average or less. I saw nothing like those sorts of assault waves but if I had I would probably still be playing that game.

I do think at the heat deflector is very OP because I found myself intentionally ramming missiles in order to charge my shields which all seemed a bit odd.

I wonder whether certain saves get to a point where they bottom out on difficulty and other do not? I haven't done enough play throughs to know whether this is true, has anyone else noticed anything like this?

Cheers,

Your deflectors are also draining while putting them up and even more when taking damage. So you can't deflector up for every incoming damage. Leech + shieldbuster will drop your shields completely the second your deflector is drained.

True, however if you are rasing it only to absorb missles it seems to work but I have not yet seen the swarms of ships that you mentioned earlier and I in my latest play through I sure hope I do!

Cheers,

where do i find this mission? i have been trying to get a cartel mission, but right now my relationship with them is at the bottom red.

Ummm you could go to starting system and grind revenge missions (+20 rep to cartel and you have to kill double jacks) but that is sort of boring IMHO.

Or you can just start a new game and play more friendly towards them :)
