Please add a - MK 6 ONLY dropped gear - sector ...
... getting way too much alien MK 5 gear (and in my unlucky case MK 5 only).

I have been trying to farm the alien (captured) MK 6 weapons and turrets for hours and found 2 MK 5 Murath electro bolt cannons, 2 MK 5 Viriax Missile turrets and 4 MK 5 Korian Viridian laser turrets. I have jet to find even one MK 6 of those alien weapons after 50 hours of gameplay :(

Im farming in Scylla and Aphrodite (sectors) as both are the only two sectors that sell MK 6 gear. Strangely Midway (sector) sells MK 5 gear only so I suggest this to be changed to MK 6 only and dropped gear to be MK 6 only in Midway also.

Thank you for considering :) Great game, goodnight!

You know the systems are randomly generated each playthrough, right?

Radom is good! Makes for more replay fun later when I go pirate game.

while the systems are randomly generated it generates a fixed number of systems at each difficulty, and currently the hardest difficulty system has a mix of mk5 and mk6 stuff in it.

Yes, because you can purchase all MK6 you need. You don't need MK6 aliens weapons / systems etc, you want them, which is a difference. If you are lucky you will find them :) It doesn't need to be a 100% drop or a special area where you can "farm" viridian lasers or turrets or what have you.

nope just found an MK6 randomly and I was in a ship worth 500k and now i'm in a ship worth 1.5k mil and outfitted it with some nice weapons

basically if this were to be held true I'd just go to that sector and get end game gear for free which is a no no

Your ship was worth 500k and you exploited the game mechanics and went for an end game area to salvage a MK 6 gear dropped near a recent battle? A 500k ship means starter ship and MK 6 means end game area as one does not find / salvage MK 6 gear in the staring area!

This means it is already possible to get MK 6 gear and exploit game mechanics! Thank you for confirming but that should not stand against the idea of a DEDICATED MK 6 ONLY SECTOR. If you are so concerned that it is possible to exploit this dedicated MK 6 only area early on than it would be a good proposition to get this area unlocked only after the main storyline completed.

For example the X series games offered an unfocused jumpdrive after completing part of the mainquest to get into hostile alien space and get unique rewards (special ship, special weapons). MMOs usually feature an end game area like if you are Lv 60 you will not find Lv 55 gear anymore. I have 50 Mio unused Cr (Net worth 150 Mio) and getting MK 5 gear dropped is just not rewarding anymore plus I also dont pick up commodities.

I have played 55 h and killed 1430 Capital ships and have found not a single MK 6 alien weapon. This is not rewarding and my Dreadnaught has 12 (!) turret slots making this request NOT pointless!

I guess I have been very lucky then. I only have two Mk6 KV turrets but I found them both inside an hour.

A dedicated MK 6 sector would reward those that put more time into the game rather than give rewards based on luck. Also there is sadly not a single method to produce more and better rewards. No Ship upgrades that allow for better salvage or even disable ships to up the rewards.

I HAVE been lucky to get all those MK 5 turrets but they are worthless as I already have better MK 6 standard gear. Giving me a dedicated MK 6 only sector would have made those Mk5 to 6 and I would have now fitted half my ship with the captured alien weapons.

But as it is now I have no reason to continue playing the game anymore. It is not rewarding to get MK 5 gear when your ship is completely fitted with MK 6 gear and you have 50 Mio spare Cr. Someone who played the game for 50+ hours and is in the same unlucky situation as me would surely understand this.
Memnoch Oct 31, 2015 @ 3:45am
A dedicated Mk6 sector doesn't make sense. It's only wish fulfillment. How about we have a button you can press that just pumps out what you want? You'll be done in less time then.

As for no reason to continue playing, what do you think would happen if you got your wish and you had a system that only gave you Mk6 gear? I few hours later you have all your Mk6 gear that you want. Why do you continue playing now?

I completely understand what you want and why. I'm just pointing out that this would be nothing more than a time saving exercise and that your ultimate destination is a ship full of Mk6 gear and no reason to play anymore. Your idea is to jump over the randomness part of the game and jump straight to the end.

You have already stated that you have no reason to continue playing anymore. That's because you have set your heart on getting Mk6 gear and therefore you see your goal is unattainable. When you have attained that goal you are back to having no reason once more.

Personal observation - no idea why most peeps are so hyped about alien weapons, outside of the missile turret that splits in 3, none are better than what you already have available, I have a pair of MK VI viridians sitting in my surplus and only taking them out when I want to play a dreadnought because I have spare turret spots and don't mind having 2 mediocre turrets when I can optimize rest of them to fulfill my needs.

Clearly untrue. The Korian laser weapons are better than the militia ones hands down.

Ignoring shield damage, particle lasers outperform Korians by a large margin. Faster chargeup and smaller cooldown and more damage, all leading to more DPS.

Why ignoring shield damage? Because you have plenty of options to get rid of shields, where damage matters most is Hull & Core.

Pretty much particle lasers will fire twice while Korian will fire once. Don't believe me? Equip a Barracuda or Sturvile with only beam turrets and no broadside, take HK missiles for secondary to help you get through the shields at start (they are only doing 50% dmg to hull anyway), and then just let your turrets kill a dreadnought on their own, see with which setup you do it faster, and how much faster.

Korians don't even finish charging up while particles already destroy a fighter in the meanwhile - another example of efficiency.

See but here's the thing "it was random"

I got lucky to find it in a cargo container. I was rather surprised myself as I wasn't even all the way in the back nor did I want to be there fighting destroyers in my icurus. Now if you just made everything level 6 then I could literally just go back there and keep opening crates that I find if I live long enough to find them and instantly reach end game in a few hours.

And as a person has said below you set your sights on a goal that means the end of the road for you. If that is your final goal then you've already finished the game. Once you obtain this goal the game will still be finished for you. There really isn't a reason for you to keep playing if all you are trying to do is max out your gear.

I was thinking the MK6 drops were not going to hapen until I started hunting Pirate lords in the MK6 sector. Do any mission with a high possibility of fighting. Mine all say low or easy so I have to base mine by past practice. Dead-Drops, Assasinate, Seige, the religious nuts (light guys), and many more. Check map often and if you see the Skull head (pirate lord). Go after him and take his drop. Scan him and his buddies and see if they will drop some MK6 gear. There is also a component that is available to help you find if a ship is cafrrying a drop or has a bounty on his head. The component does not even cost a hole bunch (maybe under a million). Then all you have to do is do a pulse scan and check the map. The bad guys with cargo icons and if you can see the 4 little red lines in the shape of a cross then they have a bounty. The MK6 area has alot of great gear around, but you must put in the effort to find good gear. I still want alien lasers (not one yet) not because they do more damage but because they look cool. They do have a longer cool down and will get not fire as often as a particle beam thou. I have MK6 antimater probe and MK6 mining lasers, MK 6 turrets, and MK6 ion cannons to bring down shields. I just think they look cool. The Blackgate doesn't have to turn fast or turn around at all in a fight. It just has to stop in place, turn broadside toward an enemy and turn loose. Most are dead in one shot while a few choice targets can a few more hits before they up and die. I can take on anything pretty much. But I still love the exploring and finding that little gem here and there. I still do not have a badger turret ( I would love to have one, just because). The game is awesome and I will be playing this for a long time. I have beaten it and it is still fun to play. I'm now going after 100% Acheivements).
