Rebel Galaxy Crashing issue same on GOG and Steam - fixed
Tried it in both apps. Even invested the extra $ to purchase it and install it in separate locations on my system. This game was running fine on steam this morning... now it crashes around after you see Double Damage logo... music plays... anticipation builds... then it crashes. Does not matter whether you verify cache, DX9 or DX11... reboot, reinstall, hold your breath or twirl around until you are dizzy. I have some expertise on software and quite frankly... the issue is definitely app related. I even went so far as to copy the entire directory from a Windows 8 machine that was still able to run it and replace it on my Windows 10 system... crashes all the same. Hoping the next patch will fix it.

no luck... it rebuild everything... but still crashed at the same spot...

Well... I finally got it working... sorta. It runs... and I have my saved games (I think)... but I had to completely uninstall the Steam version... shutdown... then reboot and come back up... then run GOG version of Rebel Galaxy. Worked like a charm. Thanks Travis for really sticking by me and giving me lots of clues... the biggest was the fact that both Steam and GOG use the same files and if something in Steam was the cause... then clearing the slate and letting GOG have a shot seemed logical.

Nope.. correction... Travis... you were DEAD ON... it is the saved games... although i thought I tested this... I cannot use these in GOG from Steam... no biggie... 11hrs but I remember an old saying... Give a man a blaster, and he can rob a pirate, teach a man to fly his own ship... and he can rule the space lanes! Well maybe that is now how that goes... but whatever... it will be fun doing this all over... but doing it right.

ok... so if you are still having crashing issues in Steam... it is due to corrupted game set. Now here is the kicker... if you saved your games in Steam... then it will try to replace those each time you restart back up... even if you removed them. Thus, right after you ensure the config setting is good before you start the game... you need to go to your saved game folder and remove your old games that are causing the issue... then continue from the config screen to start the game.. and whammoo... you are in.

Be sure to double check that is created a save file... if not, you will get nothing saved to a file when you dock at a space station. If you find it is not saving... just exist... and start over.. it will create a file once you dock the first time.
