co-op/multiplayer
Work on it, now.... like this game would be the best game ive every played if it haf co-op/multiplayer, why you ask? because there is NO GAME out there that does this and this is what I want! the ships are amazing, the systems are amazing the looks are amazing and the only thing im missing is the fact that I cant play with my buddy.... There is no game where I can just go in space, have fun and group up with my buddy, cause the game either sucks, doesnt have allot of options or its so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ big that there is no point in starting *cough* EvE *cough* I have yet to discover a game that has good gameplay, a big open world, a good amount of ships, good amount of weapons and last but not least a ♥♥♥♥ ton of enemys I wanna destory! make it happen!!! ;-;

It's been explicitly stated on many occasions (a while ago now though) that multiplayer simply CAN'T work with the way the game works.

Dont let your dreams be dreams!

but why wouldnt it? cause of the AI or something? or the way the economy works... I dunno I guess you could always implement some sort of multiplayer or atleast co-op. D:

It's because of the way the combat mechanics work.

Every projectile is tracked independently. Each bullet and missile. Beam weapons are the only hitscan weapons in the game. Passing that amount of data over the internet breaks things. The closest you'll see to achieving anything like what Rebel Galaxy would need is Armored Core, and those games are notorious for not handling it competently, and even they have easily less than 10% of the volume of projectiles being tracked compared with a typical battle in RG.

Until you can build a better internet, this isn't going to happen. It would need a new engine which doesn't work the same. And that in turn would make it a different game.

Aaaah okay, well that sucks.... welp back to the drawning bord and lets make an engine that works for games like these xD now I understand why there are so little games like these... or if there are any why they never ever work xD

Thanks for the info man! appreciate it

The game you want is called called Freelancer. It's this game's big brother. You can play local or internet with as many friends as you like. Play as traders, bounty hunter, pirates, whatever you like. Only difference is that you are a fighter pilot, and dont ride a capitol ship. Though alter on, you get some very big boats.

I remember a few mods that let you fly cap ships.

From The Depths has way more Projectiles in the air than RG, and the multiplayer works quite well for a game in alpha.
For comparison, a typical mid-size-ship in FtD that actually uses cannons as part of it's main armament usually has/had around 6+ guns with each having a reload of .56 at MAX, cannons with reloads around .3 (seconds between shots) weren't that uncommon.
And of course, added to that are missiles... Which usually also are a lot greater in number than what I've seen by now in RG.

Admittedly, I haven't left the starter system yet XD But when I compare how much there is in the air between an Icarus and a Pirate Command Ship (+ escorts), that's still maybe half, if not even less than I have in a smaller sized engagement in FtD.

Yeah thats the kicker, I dont like those small sized ships XD I like to fly big boy boats, I loved EvE to death when I played it, me and my buddy have spend atleast 100 hours into it and every hour was as fun as the other, the downside of EvE is that it takes for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ever and you have to pay every month, I dont mind the subscription and I know you can get it in-game if you play long/good enough but my buddy and myself just dont have the time for such games anymore D: I also loved the X3 concept with having your own stations and fleets etc, and they released a new one but that one sucked cause you where stuck with 1 ship and it didnt even had 3th person view xD and I like to look at my ship and be like: "I have killed many people for you" and be proud of something I got you know, very few games these days give me that and if they give it you dont have co-op/multiplayer D: but soon we have star citizen and we can only hope *fingers crossed*

The way FtD handles projectiles is very different in order to support the netcode. This game was built for single player and without multiplayer in mind, so it went with a system that allows more precise tracking of projectiles where FtD has a system that allows for more effective syncing between networked systems.

i dont want it multiplayer optimised because you will open a HUGE can of worms over balance . and i honestly cant think of anything it would add to my enjoyment .

What alternate reality are you living in where people are still playing NMS? And how can I get there, it sounds wonderful.

Also, you know you just necroed a thread that hasn't been posted in for literally a full year, right?

They could just do what dying light did and let everything happen as if it were singleplayer but allow 2 or more people in the game and just update important info like drops and stuff like that. It would have the occasional glitch but for the most part it would be totally playable. It could even be modded in.

I fully agree with OP. This is some of the best bones to a space sim I have seen. Only thing to ever really scratch my itch, but it feels like just bones and multiplayer would fix that a lot.

I would love raid style missions, this huge threat and pay day just out there but too much for one pilot to take on.

I also think this game is missing that chance huge pay day where someone bold and lucky enough could sky rocket their wealth.
