Working on my rep with mercs to try the Minotaur though. If the ship is true to its specs, I suspect it may easily become my favorite.
My favourite Dreadnaught is the Lucky 13, Polaris. It has the right feeling of being what it should, a proper battleship.
The Blackgate in comparison feels like a floating weapons platform and while it has those 20 delicious broadside ports, they're too spread out.
The worst ship I've tried is the McKinley. While I think it's absolutely gorgeous and has a bunch of extra goodies like the huge cargo bay and 6(!) component banks, it's a mess to fight with.
The combination of not being able to hit anything behind you (turret placement), along with the forward broadside placement, makes this ship awkward to fight with.
It's probably my fault for trying to use it as a battleship instead of a hauler, but I dislike the playstyle of it.
Also, what the hell is a Sturville?
Merc ship that is a little larger than the Barracuda with similar speed and turn.
The Minotaur is a capable ship. Needs great defenses in place however, since she's easy for enemies to hit.
Unfortunately I think the best progression for the game is to find a early-to-midgame ship that is fast, and pump up all of it's components to the best possible (MKv/vi). Then when you're nearly endgame, you can consider dumping money into better/larger hulls. There's just no ROI (return on investment) when you buy a large hull - smaller hulls do every bit as well if you can keep up with enemy shield regen for damage output.
It's the Red Devil's Savage Horizon.
That ship looks so badass. Really hope that becomes a playable ship at somepoint as would love to fly that.
On my next play through I am going to try to stay with just the Barracuda through the whole game. Absolutely love that ship's aesthetics and going fast is super fun.
Yup, have done that. It's not of the ships they offer you. Wish it was though.
